Party lunch for allergies

Hosting a child's party next weekend, dd has requested pizza delivery, fantastic option, I was looking forward to not having to make anything!

One of the invitees is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts, I suggested to her Mum a vegan pizza but she doesn't like pizza apparently, but will eat "anything else".

Can you suggest something lovely I can provide for her with minimal effort due to time constraints I can't bake anything, so shop bought stuff that travels well? Google suggests crudities and hummus, which doesn't scream "party" to me.

Ask the mum to give the options. Because clearly she won’t eat anything else.

100%

That would be the ideal but the Mum doesn't have much English and is quite dismissive 😐

I give up Jesius

I'm sorry but I think the mum is seriously bloody rude.

You've offered a suitable alternative due to allergies and she's now making requests for something else based on preference. Unbelievable. If her child can't/won't eat what's provided then she needs to send her with a packed lunch.

It's a kids party, not a restaurant.

This is so bleeding obvious why is this even a topic

I know. Bit silly of the Op to say this. Weird

Send her a link to the menu and ask her to choose something suitable, alternatively please can she send her with food, which you’ll be happy to heat up if needed.

Great idea!

Dominoes do chicken wings and wedges she might eat those ?

Please be very cautious @Twoweeksinaugust it looks like the chicken wings contain milk

Definitely put it back on the mum to suggest something from the menu or send something. else. Careful of the dips too. Don't assume anything is safe.

Domino's has a pretty good rep on allergens though so it's a good choice from a safety point of view, as well as helping her fit in.

My DS is allergic to dairy egg and nuts and he has chicken strippers and wedges from Dominos.

Hot dog- take the sausage precooked wrapped in foil in a vacuum flask (even better if you do the cheap hotdog sausages cos you can then leave them in the hot cooking water) and a bun (check- some have milk powder). V quick and easy to take. Spot who has an allergy child...!

I think I'd just order wedges along with the pizzas. I'd also be telling the mother she needed to stay to monitor what her child eats. Poor little girl, not her fault of course but I wonder how many more parties she'll be invited too if her mother carries on being so unhelpful.

Chickadee26 · 08/10/2026 06:59

I think I'd order a vegan pizza anyways. You're not a resturant asking all the dc what they would like, it's a pizza party.

Lifewasapillow · 08/10/2026 07:07

When it comes to allergies, the parents should be providing something. I always did.

Agree that if the child has epi-pens then the parent should stay, or at least hang around nearby as well as providing food.

Bjorkdidit · 08/10/2026 07:49

It looks like the chicken nuggets type stuff is milk free, would that be suitable? Plus wedges but get a few portions as other guests might want them.

Is there a dad or other family member on the scene you can have a conversation with? Probably best to call them or talk in person as text is obviously not working.
