The only people I know exact salaries for are me, DH, and the people who report to me!

The fact, however, that my bosses FiL flys by private jet makes me think he probably has the highest income - and it's all passive.

I know quite a lot of high earning people as my dcs go to a London prep school, but I have literally no ball park idea of any figures. I know that some people in those professions can earn more than a million a year, but once it gets that high you can't really guess from their spending.

KojaksLollipop · 03/10/2026 18:03

I’ve just googled his net worth and it says £800m
I’ve known this person since he was poor, lol

Blingismything · 03/10/2026 20:04

An artist - £800,000ish a year. There others I know who are multi millionaires.

Very unusual to me for someone in investment to have a £400k base if the total is £700k.

Id expect the very lions share of that income to be bonuses.

Correct.

FredbassetOT · 03/10/2026 20:19

Probably £70k. Most of our friends work in the public sector though. I know a couple of people in service manager type roles. We're in our 50s so it ain't getting better.

Between £3.5 and 4 million a year based on industry estimates. Senior partner at a magic circle law firm.

Yep, I know one of those through our dc. Have known him for a good 15 years. He got more arrogant with each promotion.

Boreded · 03/10/2026 20:28

How on earth would I know, I haven’t done a survey, bit bizarre.

MxCactus · 03/10/2026 22:51

Close same-age friends (I'm mid 30s), about 400k. We're all in professional roles in London. My uncle, tens of millions, an entrepreneur of several successful finance companies.

Vaguely know, in terms of bosses in my industry I speak to, probably highest is £3m a year.

Parky04 · 03/10/2026 22:57

Around £5m per year. 3 years ago, his wife and child both died. He would swap his wealth to have them back.

oneoffname · 03/10/2026 23:04

I have no idea but they only work Six months of the year in a British overseas territory, most of the rest of the year is spent at their house in the US and several weeks they are back here in the huge home they own here. They have no loans or mortgages. They own several cars and employ a driver. They are a lovely person, and if you didn't know they were wealthy, you wouldn't guess.

Pedant61 · 03/10/2026 23:09

I have no idea, because I think everyone I know would agree that it's very vulgar to discuss one's salary!

Most don’t discuss it, you can just tell from the lifestyle like multiple holiday homes

Family members current contract is 40 million for four years.

EmbracingUncertainty · 04/10/2026 17:56

MyKindHiker · 03/10/2026 13:19

You wouldn’t have time. People with these salaries are expected to work 7 days a week and never take holidays. Trust me, I’ve been there.

My highest earning person I know is me but I’m not telling ya how much haha

So why not hire 2-3 people on half the salary working less hours? Seems mad to have such indispensable people working mad hours, the risk of burnout / them leaving to a competitor when companies could spread the workload… no one needs such high salaries. but then I guess it’s a self perpetuating issue isn’t it

FableAndFern · 04/10/2026 18:35

£3 million salary plus performance bonuses. Profession sportsperson, early 20's.

Didimum · 04/10/2026 18:41

My BIL who is on around £1m, then my DH who is on £130k. I have no idea how much anyone else earns.

Doseofreality · 04/10/2026 19:04

Don’t know the exact figure but easily several million per year. They are a big hitter in the tv and film industry.
