Antisocial behaviour - parking - they think they are entitled to do this and nobody has done anything to stop them

Our neighbour used a covered up ebike or motorbike to block the parking space in front of their house.

Every day, at late night, their EV car would swap with the bike and they probably took the bike inside, as it's nowhere to be seen. Every morning, they took the bike out again to block the space when they drove away with their car. Since it's one of the two parking spots between two driveways, it became natural that they just have one of these two spots, as their bike is parked in parallel to the curb such so it's impossible to park another car despite the massive length of space.

It's a street with no parking restrictions and there's no patrol around. They have a door camera so neighbours are deterred to openly move the bike.

They've been doing this for three weeks in a row.

I've tried to report to the council online and by phone. But nothing has been done. AI seems to think there's very little legal ground for the council to do much.

How could they just claim the space to theirs when the elderly come home finding no space in the street and having to park elsewhere? How could this be allowed to carry on?

News:

  1. someone has pulled the cover up to expose it has pedals.
  2. I've reported to the council as antisocial behaviour. Don't know if it will do anything, but I've done my bit.

I'd be tempted to take it for a little trip.
You have my sympathy OP.
I had a similar situation where a neighbour had 3 cars parked outside our house at the end of the road. When he took one out he adjusted one of the remaining two in the middle of the space so nobody else could park there.
I challenged him but he threatened violence. Thankfully residents parking was introduced shortly after.

I see this where I live. People convert their garages. Don’t use their drives then park in the street. Leaving some neighbours with difficulties trying to turn into their drives .

did you put this in an email to your council? that parking a bike with pedals on the highway is anti social?

it’s free in Liverpool! Councils charge differently across the UK. Leicester and Sheffield both charge over £300, Manchester a little less.

Interesting, I've just looked at my local council and it's free as well. Still think it's appalling some places charge to create a space that anyone can use though.

Sorry for the distraction OP. Hope you get it sorted.
