Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, alone! Dd2's up but laid doom scrolling in bed with girl cat. She has been down to feed the cats, clean litterbox and put washing on though - I'm sat here with a cold compress on my eye supervising 🙄.

I've been off work most of the week with some kind of lurgy, and now seem to have viral conjunctivitis in my right eye <BIG sigh>.

Unfortunately for me, I do actually need to go shopping today. I've used up as far as I can over the course of the week while I've been rough. I'm going to treat myself to a trip to Asda and wander of their home section for a browse of their bedding 🤣😊. Might even replace the microwave while I'm there.

Dd's staying here to do her college work & wash up. In reality, she'll be washing up as I get home!

Dd1's still in bed - she was out out last night. Home at quite a sensible hour though! She'll message when she's up.

When I get in, I want to browse a few craft supplies for Christmas crafting, then continue my current crochet project.

Leftover Indian takeaway for tea, an hour with my book (eyeball dependent 🙄) and another early night for me.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all,

it’s still so warm here but I felt a little sniff of Autumn this morning.

Managed to finish chores ahead of the weekend so it feels like I have so much time. Got a run in with DH this morning which always helps my pace.

now just lying on my bed potttering with a plan to pop into town to get a few things to decorate DDs room. Then an early evening trip to the pub with friends. Just lovely.

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. I seem to remember bicarb to bathe eyes. Hope you get over it soon @lucysmam 💐
My day so far is mainly clock watching as I start my shift at 12 & trying not to lose my temper with DD17! I think something is going on under the surface so later on, I will try to gently probe. Just had cold pizza & a 2nd cuppa. DH & I had tea in bed at about 7.30. I did the dishwasher when I went down to make it & it’s ready to unload. One of the bunnies is in - love it when they hop around our feet. I’ll give him & his doe some kale in a min. After work I need to pop to DF’s to store more of my Vinted parcels & charity shop finds - my car resembles an Evri delivery van! I’ve noticed it’s harder to drive. Tea will be a dish that I haven’t made before & that we were going to try the other night but I had some ingredients missing - creamy bacon & courgette penne. Then Strictly & The Voice. I still have All Creatures Great & Small to catch up on. Sadly read a spoiler for the latest episode. Hate when folks do that with no warning! Have a good Saturday all ❤️

I'm so glad you asked. I have walked our huge floofy boy up to our churchyard. I'm sitting on the stone wall watching him bouncing about and charming the pants off a group of Community Payback boys ( our community angels who keep the garden beautiful).
Next to me is a gorgeous little garden with Mary surrounded by the last of the summer flowers.
Peace is all around me.

Angelchick1971 · 03/10/2026 10:54

We're down in Whitby for the weekend, a double celebration, DPs birthday and his divorce has just been finalised 😁 it's lovely and sunny and we're getting ready to go out for a bevvy (or three!) with friends. Have a fab weekend everyone x

BiddyPopthe2nd · 03/10/2026 10:59

Have had a nice cooked breakfast and proper shower. We’re just finishing the main cleaning (waiting for laundry to finish to hang out) before going to visit young adult DD in hospital and doing a food shop, visit DD again before cooking a nice dinner and a quiet evening. Hopefully an early night as we’re both knackered. We’ll have a similar day tomorrow (without food shopping but I hope to get an hour to grab a few other bits), and plenty of seeing DD, another decent quiet dinner. Before I leave again at 03:30 on Monday to go back to work overseas (2.5 weeks before I’m home again).

FlorencenotRatchet · 03/10/2026 11:05

Morning all. Hope you feel better soon @lucysmam.
I’ve done parkrun and breakfast and just heading home for a shower. We were by a nice bakery so picked up a couple of doughnuts as a treat. They have real sugar in the top which seems very hard to find these days.
I’m hopping to find a new bag for an upcoming weekend away so will go for a mooch around the shops this afternoon.
A lazy evening tonight as up early for a run tomorrow.
Enjoy your day everyone.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/10/2026 11:06

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I was going to make chorister grandson's birthday cake first thing this morning but realised I don't have all the ingredients! Mr Dilemma was going out for a few bits so he's going to get what's missing. I have just spent 40 minutes on his Christmas stocking decoration - I have put it away now as I don't know how long he's going to be out. The best bits are done now - I only have the more boring bits to do now. I can't do anything tomorrow as I will be out with him to pick chorister grandson up from evening as it will be his birthday tea as soon as he gets home and we are invited.

I have got everything (except the bits I haven't got yet) out ready to make the cake when Mr Dilemma gets home. He isn't feeling very well and has a sore arm as he had his covid and flu jabs yesterday. I have had really painful ribs (front and back) armpit and side on the left side all week... which I'm putting down to having had to wear a bra every day for over a week and it's pressing on my mastectomy scar. I have a day off today - yaaay! My covid and flu jabs are a couple of weeks away.

I don't have much else planned for today - I picked up some crafty bits, including an embossing machine, from the Scrap store yesterday so I might try that out this afternoon. I expect Mr Dilemma will go back to bed when he gets home.

He made us a delicious roast beef meal last night, so I'm using the leftover beef to make a cottage pie for this evening. I'm quite looking forward to that. Both kinds of cottage pie, made with leftovers or fresh meat, are one of my favourite meals.

HelpMeGetThrough · 03/10/2026 11:06

I’m painting the cupboard in the hallway that’s got all the electrical stuff in it (consumer unit, etc). I had an EV charger installed a few weeks ago and the cupboard got a bit battered.

The cupboard is huge for what it’s holding, but it’s a “feature”. Glad I can attach the hoover to the sander, has saved a load of mess.

I’ve got to stop finding these things to do, as I’ve got a bedroom to decorate and a fence to build!!

Zanatdy · 03/10/2026 11:22

I’ve just moved house 2wks ago so waiting in for Ikea delivery and praying it shows up as new build and no-one can find me! Plus picking up some things from next later and preparing for my first visitors. After 3.5yrs in a flat, felt good to peg the washing out earlier too!

Tangerinesattack · 03/10/2026 11:59

Morning all (just)!

Busy morning today as we're off on holiday so much packing and cleaning going on. I'm just taking 5 minutes for a coffee as DH and I are getting on each others' wick!
Slightly complex logistics as we're going to a friend's birthday party in Glasgow tonight and staying over tomorrow night, then we're heading down to a cottage in Northumberland for a week. It's a place we've been before several times so looking forward to lots of lazy days, pottering down to the beach, sitting in the hot tub and just really chilling out. Cannot bloody wait!

Dinner will probably be Nando's or similar - Very exotic for us country bumpkins! Have a lovely day and I hope everyone's ailments pass quickly.

Morning Saturday Gang

@lucysmam defo get some drops for your poor eye and hope it gets better soon.

I’m just getting ready to meet my uni pals for lunch, we have been pals since the 90s and still like to think we are 18/19 year olds!

Once I get back we are driving down to the South Coast to visit number 2 son at university, take him some bits he forgot to pack and give the dogs a good run on the beach. Staying over tonight and will fill up his cupboards, feed him and his lovely girlfriend before heading back.

I am now craving beef stew and dumplings! That’s for the food processor tip @Denimdreams000 Im looking for meats to cooking some proper Autumn rib sticking food 🤤

I love my food processor, I also use it for crumble - just chuck in a few oats for the last few pulses to give it a crumblier texture

Also it's perfect for making pastry - my absolutely foolproof recipe for shortcrust pastry is 7oz flour & 3oz butter in the food processor, then add 1 egg to bind. Rest for 30 mins in fridge and leave to warm slightly before rolling. Perfection every time

Denimdreams000 · 03/10/2026 12:52

Like many here I'm having a quiet morning of pottering about, getting some cleaning done. DD is playing nicely, might do a food shop and some baking later. Lovely day outside too!

mamaduckbone · 03/10/2026 12:52

Sorry to hear about your lurgy @lucysmamand hope you’re feeling better soon.
I also have a lurking lurgy so had a lie in this morning and don’t have a lot planned. I’ve driven Dh to the station as he’s away with friends, packed ds off to rugby and I’m debating whether I’ve got the energy for a) a wander into town or b) an hour or two of gardening, or whether to just hole up with the tv and a blanket.
Ds and I are getting a takeaway tonight, undecided what, and I don’t think he’s out so we might watch a film together if we can find something we can both agree on. It will probably be a rewatch of a favourite.

Bigfattwat · 03/10/2026 12:52

Can I join or is this a quiche?

I’ve been and had a haircut, and done Asda already, and the washing machine has finished while I was out so I’m about to hang a load out.

then I’m going to park myself in front of the tele and do some knitting

Iamnotaloggrip · 03/10/2026 13:14

I’ve done park run, brunch and shopping with DS this morning while DD played footy. We’ll take the dog out this afternoon then back to watch England later. Will try to catch up on Traitors tonight too - both kids seem keen to watch with me so don’t know how far we’ll get before their bedtimes!

Hope your eye feels better soon @lucysmam. Have a lovely day all.

Bigfattwat · 03/10/2026 13:20

If your eye continues to be grotty @lucysmam go to the chemist for drops

AlwaysSometimesNever · 03/10/2026 13:41

Laid up with horrible mega cold x flu and Covid jabs from Thursday. Had slightly runny nose Thursday, thought nothing of it, so took jabs then yesterday evening and today feel right grotty. Ah well…

Nugg · 03/10/2026 13:53

I set around watching Netflix feeling overwhelmed by general untidiness and the need to pack and get organised for a holiday this week.
then I asked AI to help me and got up and started sorting stuff

Since then I’ve tidied everywhere, laid out my packing piles on the spare bed and am making a lasagne from scratch for my daughter and son in law. Back watching a bit of tv now, this is very very unlike me however I have had a hell of a busy month or two and I’m just making the most of downtime where I can hope you have a lovely weekend and your eye improves!

Bringyourfoldingchair · 03/10/2026 14:12

Hi everyone! I had quite a stress my morning. It wasn’t actually stressful but I was very highly strung. DH got up and took DS12 to rugby. I stayed at home with DS3 and DS8. I did the cleaning but they were dirtying it as soon as I’d done.

We drove to our caravan this afternoon to stay for the night. I’m currently sat in the park with a cup of tea while the kiddies play. Hoping for a relaxing day and evening. I stopped and got a bottle of wine for later and maybe get a takeaway too. DH is wanting to watch rugby this evening so I think I’ll grab myself a wee magazine.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Fazabulous · 03/10/2026 16:15

Just back from craft class which was v good but more tiring than I expected!!
@lucysmam you haven’t been back to update but hoping that you did manage to stagger round Asda and get the poorly eye medicine…

DilemmaDelilah · 03/10/2026 16:24

@Zanatdy good luck with your delivery! I had to go and pick up something from a new build estate a week or so ago. The road didn't have a sign on it, it wasn't listed on Google maps, and when we did eventually find the right road the house wasn't numbered!

On behalf of all visitors/deliveries to all new builds, please, at least, put a number on your house!

Hatty65 · 03/10/2026 16:57

Sorry about your eye! Sounds nasty, but your day sounds quite nice.

I had a long lie in this morning (have a chronic condition) and got up just before lunchtime. DH made me a pot of coffee and lunch.

Had a flu jab which was an organised, well manned factory line where I arrived at GP surgery, was sent to a 'station' and gave name, DoB, was sent through the corridor to a nurse standing in 'doorway no 4' who jabbed me and sent me along the corridor and out the back door. I arrived back in the car park within about 2 minutes of arriving! (Slightly dazed, but very impressed at how swift it all was).

Done a brief Tesco food shop, dropped something in to a neighbour and had a quick coffee with them and then printed off a knitting pattern for a gingerbread house Christmas decoration which I fancy making at some point. I am now lying on the sofa, browsing MN, and done for the day.

DS is cooking tea for us at some point, which probably means it is pasta. He wants to watch a film with me later on (suspect he's out of money til payday as it's Saturday night) and I will if I can summon up the energy.

Like you, I'm aiming for an early night.

lucysmam · 03/10/2026 19:51

@Bigfattwat @Fazabulous I did get some eye drops! They're working wonders - I no longer want to claw my eye from my face. Also bought new quilt and micro - no bedding I liked enough to buy it. Freezer and cupboards are full for the majority of the month (barring baking spuds - their selection was awful so I'll wander to Lidl at some point for them!), so we should just need to top up fresh and maybe a few bits when dd1 visits over Halloween.

I'm sitting next to a baking book I was given for my birthday when I was very very ill, 3 years ago now. I want to choose something from it to make this week but cannot be arsed. I'm tired 💤. Maybe I'll look tomorrow instead & also look for a biscotti recipe then.
