Are 1st Class Degrees from all universities, especially those considered Russel Group, regarded as equal or not?

For instance, is a 1st Class History degree from Warwick the same as a 1st Class History degree from Oxford; or a 1st Politics degree from Leeds the same as a 1st Class HSPS degree from Cambridge?

Does anyone remember the poster who obsessed about going to Oxford, then dithered about a life changing opportunity to do a foundation year at Cambridge? Just saying.

Anyway, of course a 1st in photography from Solent is going to be very different to a 2:1 in classics from Oxford are they are testing different skill sets. One is academic and the other is vocational.

But please explain why you’d expect Oxbridge and Imperial to be more rigorous when isn’t it exactly the same curriculum they do?

No, it absolutely isn’t the same curriculum. They are set by the university.

A first from a university like Winchester is equivalent to a third from a university like Kings.

It isn’t like GCSEs or A level where the syllabus is set by the exam board and delivered across a wide variety of schools. The university sets its own standards.

Oxbridge BA degrees are considered to be equivalent to Masters level at many other universities.

I hope this helps.

It's fine. She's moved onto an inane Q about Farage now
