Aye, we would. If we couldn't take a neighbour ourselves right then, we'd give them the money for a taxi.

I'm presuming you need to get into Glasgow, @Donemum - or is it a closer hospital to pick up antibiotics once they've seen you?

Thank u. Im about 20 mins away from Glasgow and yes its the queen Elizabeth I need to go x

I’d ask on your local Facebook. I’d never give money to a stranger online as there are too many scammers about but I might offer a lift.
What about work colleagues? Do you have a group chat?

Donemum · 27/09/2026 18:28

Oh im not asking for money at all. Ive posted on my local page just waiting on it being approved

My friend was house sitting and needed to get to hospital as an infected insect bite was tracking. She knocked on the neighbours' doors until she found someone (who'd not had a drink because it was a Saturday night) who could help. Folk will be willing to help if you ask.

ChocHotolate · 27/09/2026 18:47

You will need a plan to get home too

HouseHouseHouse7 · 27/09/2026 18:48

I bet that someone in the FB group will help. I’ve seen this a few times on my local group.

Donemum · 27/09/2026 18:53

Yes ive asked on my local page just awaiting approval. My neighbour is working ive not long chapped them. I get paid at midnight so I can get up then if no luck by then

Op just knock on the neighbours doors! Anyone I know would take you no bother - If any neighbour asked me I’d hop in the car and take them !

BashfulClam · 27/09/2026 18:59

Did you get the ‘special number’ my brother was in the Beatson and they gave him a number to call and said avoid NHS24 of the GP as they’ll fob you off with paracetamol and see how you feel. A fever cannot be ignored so they gave him another number to call if he ran a fever at all.

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/09/2026 18:59

Im just outside glasgow and getting to the queen Elizabeth is a bloody nightmare. DH had 2 appointments in 2 days and he cant use public transport right now due to mobility issues and it was nearly 80 quid on taxis!

I hope you get sorted soon.

Blanketpolicy · 27/09/2026 19:00

OP, local Facebook or knock on your neighbours. I’m a bit further south of Glasgow but there is always someone on our local facebook willing to help someone in need.

If you book an uber as a registered user they will only process the payment at the end of the trip, they will keep trying to take it until you have funds available.

If none are available it will lock your account (so you can't book further trips) until you go on and make a manual payment.

I only know this as I booked an uber, realised in the uber my purse had been stolen from my bag so needed to immediately freeze my cards... I told the driver who said he'd complete the trip, the payment would fail but I could pay later. Worth a try?
