Sick leave

How many times a year do you take sick leave? If age matters, I’m in my late 30s. I’m not taking into account cases where people have serious conditions, just generally, for things like colds/flu and/or kids feeling unwell

Normaly about once, perhaps twice. No more than that .

A couple of times when I was pregnant, but I didn’t really get ill otherwise. Then I caught covid, became permanently sick and now live off savings wondering if I’ll ever get my life back.

I called in sick today, sickness bug and may call in tomorrow but will try and wfh Friday if I feel better. My last sick day before that was 2023 with covid. I don’t feel too guilty though, all my team seem to be off lately with something.

Just over 13 years ago was the last time I was off sick and that was due to a stomach bug which wiped me out.

If you’re sick you’re sick, and you should rest. I stopped worrying about being loyal when one of my colleagues got sacked for extended sick leave due to cancer, it was a lightbulb moment - they don’t care about us.

Sorry to hear @Scotcheggfreemy health hasn’t been the same since Covid. When I get bugs now they properly wipe me out

Haven’t been off this year. Maybe usually 2/3 days a year. Last year I had a hideous flu and had 3 weeks !!
