Tourist in your own city - London

I’ve taken my two DDs to most of the more obvious places in London. I’d really welcome some less obvious suggestions of things we can do. They’re aged 11 and 14. The eldest is jaded as only a teen can be. She’s into history, art and science but the youngest is easily bored and a gallery or museum is dull for her. She says she doesn’t know what she likes (which is fair enough - she is only 11!) though enjoyed the science museum which we’ve now done to death.

Please help inspire me!

Quite a few shopping/business areas have free events over the summer - eg film screenings, music, exhibitions, art trails etc. Have a look at websites for specific areas eg
King’s Cross
Canary Wharf
Canada Water

Round The Dock | Live Music & Markets in Canada Water

Enjoy Round The Dock at Canada Water with free summer events, live music, markets, family fun and outdoor entertainment near London Bridge.

So sorry about radio silence. Work got really busy. Thank you all for taking the time to share your ideas. I must admit we’ve done a good proportion of them but there are a lot I was less familiar with / didn’t know about that I’ll google to discover more.

This is a fantastic thread, I am blown away by all the different trips and experiences - and I'm a Londoner, born in Dalston.
There’s so much I haven’t explored yet in my city.
Thank you to everyone who contributed.

You can go around Buckingham Palace and have lunch in a cafe in the garden, then once you’ve paid once the ticket is good for a full year, my kids really enjoyed it.

We went on one of the hidden London tours through the transport museum which was fab, we went down Aldwych tube which shut in 1994. My 12 and 14 ear old loved it too.

Uber boat to see the sights from the boat is good. London dungeon might be good. Check the times that tower Bridge is raised. Was pretty cool to see and then walk around the area. We did it in the evening and then drove around to see London at night
