Anyone resigned after a few days?

Just that really. It’s been a nightmare few days. Nobody was expecting me, the staff are rude to each other and I have some serious safety concerns with what I have seen already.
This is my onsite introduction and people have so little to say to me, I feel like I’m nothing but an inconvenience.

My dd quit on day 1.
She went to work in a children's home. Had spent days doing the online safeguarding and going through their policies.
First day in the home, she was introduced to the 2 staff members and 1 of the three girls who lived their.
Whilst being shown around, the manager of the home referred to the girls as cunts.
My dd is no prude but it just didn't sit right with her. She was home for 2pm 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was internally hacked off with her at the time, she still lives at home, but on reflection I was pleased she had the courage to walk away.
It's a shame because she would have been an asset to their team.

What on earth. I hope that was reported. That’s completely unacceptable 😮

Thank you all, I feel so much better. Sod how it looks, my values are more important to me.

I did have a small laugh today at someone’s declaration in the office of the, ‘you are massively deluded’ type when he tried to talk over me on something. The thing I had been hired for. The thing I’d just done at my old company. He didn’t even ask me about my background or experience to know I knew my stuff.

Letter being written tonight.

I went to work in petrol station in the 80’s and just after I got there on my first shift I noticed a sink full of dirty cups and plates etc . The boss said oh that’s for you to clean as the day shift are too busy! ( they were all men) I said that’s not my job and he said take it or leave it so I did I walked out after being there just 15 minutes. I never regretted it!

I was 18, first job and I'd applied for 2. The one I really wanted had been offered me but the process was taking forever, so when the 2nd job sent me an offer I felt i had no choice as I was desperate for money. Within about 3 hours on my 1st day, I knew I'd made a horrific mistake. The team I was put in were so rude, all older bitchy women who clearly didn't want someone on a management trainee programme. The 3rd day, I "accidentally" got locked in the basement when they'd sent me down repeatedly for files and knew from the look on their faces when I got back upstairs that they had all been laughing. I put my resignation letter on the section head's desk at 4.55pm and never went back. The following week, I got a start date for the other job.

Good for you!

If you're an experienced professional it's easy to pick up on the vibes of your new workplace and sense if it's going to be a toxic place. Better to go quickly and remove all evidence from your CV and LinkedIn.

I quit a job after 6 weeks under what seems like similar circumstances. Completely toxic attitudes, any time I raised concerns about the lack of good practice I was told basically to stay in my own lane. I wasn't willing to risk my professional reputation working at a shambolic place. Adios!

I quit after one day! I remember they just kept adding tasks on that would be mine and I could see that the job was going to be impossible. They needed a team for what they wanted not one new staff member! Absolutely no regrets, I'm proud that I recognised early on that it wasn't going to work and freed myself, usually I'm a people pleaser.

Yes, it’s very obvious they need a full team to do what they are asking 1 person to do
