Do you think now women can have children via ivf etc, it's made men a it less valuable?

I mean I think it's great because if someone really wants children tnat badly, tney will go through ivf or iui, they must be determined

But I do wonder what the future will be like, I wonder if men will become less valuable as this will become more popular, like Internet dating has etc

What do you think ?

Don't get me wrong I'm glad we have this choice

No. Regardless of the method we need sperm to concieve. If all menn decided they were never giving up their sperm how would women get pregnant?

Also IVF and IUI are invasive emotional expensive and exhausting treatments. If you can get the outcome via the traditional method its much preferable!

ALSO we need genuinely good male role models for the next generation.

I think your post is a bit silly tbh

ParsleySageToiletDuckAndBinBags · 17/08/2026 10:07

Don't you still need sperm - or have they found a way to concoct this artificially now?

At any rate, most women in heterosexual relationships love and value their husbands and partners as entire people - not just because of their ability to father children. Love and relationships aren't transactional arrangements for most people.

They still cant get pregnant without sperm so no.

TBH I'd worry about someone who thinks the only value in half the population is their sperm having a son - it's a really unhealthy attitude.

It probably adjusts, slightly, the imbalance that men can have children well into old age but women felt the pressure to get on with it but I don't think "valuable," is quite the right word for that,

I think it’s taken a small amount of power away from men, yes. Decades ago, a woman who wanted children had little choice but to marry a man (society made life so difficult for single mothers that many were forced to give their babies up for adoption).

So, women married lazy men, violent men, unfaithful men… who had no incentive to improve.

GreenCandies · 17/08/2026 10:22

I think men have alot to offer to children tney way they rough play with them us actually really good for children, children tend to fair better in life with also a good dad or a good male role model in life
But ideally a dad

Yes I think that's a sensible take on it

I think in terms of marriage men no longer find it easy, women don't need to be in a relationship to have money or have a child.

I think the money part is far more influential than the child part.

MidnightPatrol · 17/08/2026 10:26

I’m not sure about IVF - but I do think women’s financial independence (and that being socially acceptable) has made them a lot less tolerant of men’s crappy behaviour.

It’s has blown me away the extent to which the women I know are left (literally!) ‘holding the baby’ responsible for the lions share of everything home and children - while the dads contribute 5-10% and otherwise see the fact they go to work as ample contribution at home.

I am not in the least bit surprised so many women sack off men.

Yes I agree, just going to work doesn't cut it any more, which is a good thing

We’ve had IVF since the late 70s. Any societal changes have already happened. Those first IVF babies are old enough to be grandparents.
