How much spending money should we budget for Butlins Minehead?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of how much spending money is required for Butlins Minehead?

There’s six of us, two adults, ds 10, dd 8, dd 4 and dd five months. We have a dining plan with lunch add on so I’m not too worried about meals but will need to buy drinks, children will want money for the arcade, maybe a go on the go karts/bowling.

It’s been years since I’ve been and the kids were at the ages where they were happy with the free stuff. We are going mid week October if that helps.

Do you have all inclusive drinks as part of your package? I'd do that as an add on.

We were cheap AF and filled our bottles up at the restaurant. I think the gokarts and bowling were like 7 quid a person or something so those things are going to cost you.

They have the pool and park and most of the rides at the fair are free, the shows are free. You can spend as much or as little as you want. Most of the things in the arcade are 2 or 3 quid a go. So it depends on how much you want to spend as you don't actually need to spend much. You'll only really have 3 days so budget a fiver or tenner a day per kid for games.

I’m toying with adding the drinks package on but I’m not sure it’s worth it for us. Neither me nor dp are big drinkers and if we do drink it would be max two a night. One dd has ASD and will only drink plain water (or the occasional fruit shoot). Ds will be after all the slush he can get his hands on but I think it may work out cheaper to take our own and buy what’s needed there.

What time does the evening entertainment start? I’m trying to work out whether we’d be going on the Monday so I can budget for the evenings better.

Oh then I wouldn't bother with the drinks package, it doesn't include slushies.

Just fill up water bottles from the restaurant. They have water and fruit juice.

There's some form of entertainment most of the afternoon and evening. It depends what the kids are into with them being abit older. I don't think there's much on on the Monday evening, Mondays and Fridays tend to be a bit sparse as they're "moving days" but there's nothing wrong with just taking a football and sitting at the outside bar area and just letting them play.

Never been so wouldn’t know but think about a trip to Dunster and the castle, it’s spectacular and you’ll be only 10 minutes away.

I imagine just take what you can afford, you will spend however much you take so set a budget. Maybe do what I've seen other people do, put an amount in an envelope for each day and that's all you've got to spend, once it's gone it's gone.

It’s hard to advise as most of it is included (fair ground, shows, swimming etc) but there are activities you can pay for. If you want to do any of them i think it’s worth getting an action pass but weve never bothered.
using the arcades can add up quickly, and drinks can be fairly pricey.
it’s probably worth downloading the Butlin’s b serve app, as it has drink prices, and the activity app as you can see what ones you have to pay for and give yourself a rough idea.

The trick is to give each child (not 👶) a little budget each day for “extras” which could be arcade games, etc, budget for one bowling game, take those little ultra concentrated squash things (Lidl own brand) and water bottles to refill for drinks during the day and slushy fan gets one on first night and one on last.
