15 min drive to school and moving schools twice.

Hello! We've recently moved to a new area but have really not settled and want to move back. My 7 year old daughter has done 6 weeks at the new local school and has settled and made a few friends. However...I have a chance to move her to a school in our old area where lots of her close friends go but its a 15 minute drive from the house. Does this sound doable for a year or so until we manage to sell up and move back? And is it fair to move her school again? Do kids settle that well twice? Aswell it will mean I see my old friends twice a day when I've really been struggling with loneliness. Is that totally selfish??? Thank you.

I think you need to give the new place a fair chance - at least a couple of years of possible.

What is it you don't like? If its just social, try to broaden your hobbies so you meet new people.

Yes, it would be unfair to ask her to move schools again so soon.

Fwiw, I felt very down when we moved house and location, and I blamed it on the move. Looking back, I realise that I was actually going through a bit of a crap time, and the move was an easy thing to blame.

Have you only moved 6 weeks ago? That’s not really enough time to give anywhere a chance.

A 15 mon drive is nothing, however i would look at why you moved and why you haven't settled. This seems more about you than her, what have you done to integrate yourself in the new area?

It's sounds like you've not moved very far if the old school area is 15 minutes away. You moved for a reason, I'd give yourself a chance to settle.

Have you only been in your new house a couple of months? If so, it’s not long enough. You need to be there longer. Redecorate the house to your taste, have barbecues, invite friends around etc. You’re just feeling a bit homesick, as everything is new and unfamiliar at the moment.

i wouldn’t move your daughter again if she has settled. Come September, you’ll probably start meeting other mums. Etc and building a new network of friends.
