Are SMEG kettles noticeably better than cheaper supermarket kettles?

If you have a SMEG kettle, how much of a difference do you notice compared to a supermarket cheapie? Does it live longer? Boil quicker? Have less issue with limescale? Is it only slightly better (and prettier), or amazingly, you-wouldn’t-believe-the-difference better?

Have always thought I would love one if I had the disposable income! (I’d love a complete set of Le Creuset too!)

I have a Smeg kettle. Or rather a Meg kettle as the S fell off.
it’s a singing one, confuses everyone with an adjustable temperature gauge ( who needs different temperatures? Surely the point is to make it boil?)
anyway the temperature gauge went wonky after a year and it sings when it isn’t supposed to. Save your money and buy a russell Hobbs

I have no experience or knowledge of Smeg kettles but my Kitchen Aid kettle is fabulous. You can set the temperature for it to switch off, it has cool walls (the metal kettle at work gets dangerously hot walls) and it also has a temperature gauge that I use to see how hot the water is. It has a lot of usage but still looks good as new. I live in a slightly hard water area so I only use water from my Brita water filter jug in it. I had always had cheap kettles before getting my Kitchen Aid one and the cost seemed crazy to me at the time, but when I think about how much use it gets then it has been worth it for me.
