Ideas for a cold vegetarian breakfast for guests in warm weather

We have guests coming, and it's warm. I normally do a big cooked breakfast, but I want to avoid this. It will make me sweat to the point of wanting a shower when everyone sits down to eat - it would only take me 5 or 10 minutes but it feels awkward of precious. So, I'm looking for cold, vegetarian breakfast ideas.

Google suggested these -
Yogurt Parfait Bar: Set out bowls of Greek yogurt, granola, fresh berries, and honey.
Vegetarian Bagel Platter: Arrange sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, capers, and cream cheese.

I think they're good ideas, just checking if anyone has anything else to suggest.

I love good crusty fresh bread i can dip in olive oil and eat with tomatoes. Cheese optional

Freinddilemma · 15/08/2026 13:15

Also tortilla

Both sound great but salad for breakfast is....a bit unusual.

Cooking some veggie sausage in the oven wouldn't make you sweat like that would it? For the bagels....I'd add some sliced cheese to go with the veggie sausage.

Buy some ready made large tortillas. Nice ones in Lidl at the moment.

Weetabix and milk.

I would do Greek yoghurt with different berries and honey etc on offer. I would also offer toast, fresh bread or some croissants or something.

Firstly salad for breakfast is not unusual if you're from Greece/Cyprus

Next, not a huge difference between 'salad stuffs' and 'fruit'. Interchangeable virtually

But lots of people think fruit is a breakfast item

Personally I hate fruit and need protein at breakfast like cheese, ham, eggs, fish with salad or veg.

SomaTaim · 15/08/2026 13:20

Croissants and berries / melons / coffee

Rainbowstarssunlight · 15/08/2026 13:20

I don’t ever do a cooked breakfast summer or winter. If we have people coming I’d get some croissants/pastries and some fruit and Greek yoghurt plus the usual cereal and toast.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 15/08/2026 13:21

Overnight oats

BillieWiper · 15/08/2026 13:22

Turkish breakfast with feta, boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, olives and some nice flatbread. Plain yoghurt and some fruit?

NorthFacingGardener · 15/08/2026 13:22

Yoghurt / granola bits sound good.
I would do cinamon and raisin bagels / fruit toast rather than bagel with cream cheese and salad personally.

You didn’t say vegan so I’m assuming eggs are okay? Scrambled / poached / fried eggs on toast. Fried tomatoes/ mushrooms.

Also croissants / danish assortment. I like the frozen ones that you bake at home so they’re fresh.

Who's coming royalty. You're doing way to much, not everyone even eats breakfast. If you really want to do something fruit, pastries, yoghurt

Melon. Grapefruit.

Id avoid grapefruit a significant amount of people can't eat it

Sparkletastic · 15/08/2026 13:25

I don’t like sweet breakfasts personally and like a PP need a decent amount of protein in the morning. Could you at least hard boil some eggs?

Blueuggboots · 15/08/2026 13:27

Cereal, toast, good sourdough, cheese, jam, peanut butter.

This would be my choice. I hate sweet breakfasts or breakfast which are mainly white bread/ carb. This is not because I am trying to lose weight, just my taste in the morning!

Only if you have a very limited anglo centric mindset. Have you never seen a European hotel buffet that always includes salads?

Tortilla is good but they're far nicer reheated in the oven or air fryer so give people this option if serving those.

Make sure its a varied selection though, overnight oats and are not universally popular for example. You can always use leftovers over the next couple of days.

Ophy83 · 15/08/2026 13:32

This morning at a cafe in Spain I had toast with cream cheese, walnuts and honey, whilst DH's came with avocado, tomatoes and manchego, drizzled with olive oil. Both delicious!

Chipsahoy · 15/08/2026 13:32

Pastries. Toast. Jam.

Madam2Swords · 15/08/2026 13:33

Salad for breakfast is fine.

MovesInHerOwnWay · 15/08/2026 13:37

Overnight oats with fruit, nuts, seeds

Avocado on toast

Chia pudding with fruit and nuts

Peanut or almond butter on toast with fruit

FeliciaFancybottom · 15/08/2026 13:37

Cornflakes.

It's quite nice and healthy isn't it. I'm afraid I'm an absolute sucker for chips for breakfast! But in this weather it's a bit much even for me!
