I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my conservatory spot, as always, after a nice lay in with boy cat snuggled up 😊. He's still in bed now! Dd2's up and eating her breakfast in the living room - she didn't want to sit in here with me.

I've had a tidy round in the kitchen, put the washer on and some pots to soak, and been out to check on my plants and chat to the neighbour already.

We don't have anything exciting planned for today. I want to carry on in the garden - the bindweed is mostly cleared & roots dug out as far as I can so next job is to start laying the weed membrane I've bought on top. I'll also attempt to dig out a bit more of the dead bamboo and turn over another section of garden that I want to refresh - it's meant to be slate chippings but very weedy atm.

I'm also going to do a spot of browsing for a new dinner set, salt and pepper pots, and jars for the kitchen. And have just had a thought to swap a couple of cupboards while I was thinking kitchen - so I'll try that too!

Dd1's still asleep - she worked a shift in London yesterday & got in around 1am. I'll make her a cuppa in a bit & see if she's bothered about doing anything. We could really do with going shopping for the few bits she wants to take back to uni with her.

Dd2's off picnic-ing with her friends again. They walked a fair few miles last time so expect they'll do that again today.

We're having poached eggs & beans on toast for tea, since the forecast is still warm weather & then I plan to try to finish my current book and pick a new one. Shouldn't be hard, it's not the best - a bit lacking any kind of substance & suspense - but it's ok for not concentrating too hard.

What about all of you? 🙂

Placemarking 🙂

Morning @lucysmam
We are post A level results so have had a busy couple of days. Had a lovely lie in and just finishing breakfast while watching the athletics.
Off to my volunteering role in a bit, late lunch as I'm on until 2pm.
No real plans after that, depends on DS plans for tea and the evening.
I'm up to date with washing so that's a bonus
Its quite grey, so I probably need to swap my shorts for trousers before I go out.
Happy Saturday everyone.

Andnowshesatoddler · 15/08/2026 10:28

I currently have a four year old in a bad mood for some unknown reason that she doesn't even really know so that's fun.
Waiting for my husband to get back from the hairdresser and then hopefully we can go do something as a family.

Woofwoofwoff · 15/08/2026 10:38

Slept rubbish so I haven’t actually got up yet, dh brought me a cup of tea up but it hasn’t woken me yet .

DS went camping last night, it wasn’t the experience they imagined and he was back at 8 in and now in bed (they didn’t take enough equipment really and I purposely didn’t get involved, deciding it was a learning moment 🤪 plus obviously couldn’t have that camping fire they wanted)

dd did really well with her results on Thursday (thank goodness) but has changed her mind about uni at least four times now. She’s waking up to go to work.

dh has gone to get his new glasses, pick up his mums dog and walk it while it’s not too hot and then he’s off to allotment.

I am planning a big booktok video, might do a few for later posts. The book sellers are running £16 off an £80 spend so I’m going to see if I can merge some best sellers.

lucysmam · 15/08/2026 10:47

@gingercat02 I hope the A level results were what was wanted or needed & your ds was happy with them!

@Andnowshesatoddler my 16yo is quite frequently still like that 🙄.

@Woofwoofwoff well done to your dd for her results. Dd1 spent many many months last year dithering back & forth over going to uni. She literally decided, at the bus stop, waiting for the bus home from collecting her results, that she was going!

Morning Lucysmam and all!

We’re off to visit my parents today to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Brother and SIL live a couple of hours south of us so they come up and stay with my parents for the weekend whenever it’s someone’s birthday. Our cousin usually comes to visit each time too.

DH was working night shift last night and he went over already after his shift so DC and I (and the dog) are just going to jump on a bus to head over today.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 15/08/2026 10:52

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was been up for ages, then felt unwell and headed back to bed. So far I've emptied and loaded the dishwasher. Put it on, then emptied and loaded it again. I have stripped the bed and the whites are washing away. I've also made bread which is on its second prove. Later I'll polish, hoover and clean the bathroom. I have an ironing to do too. A very housework-y day! Enjoy your day all

mindutopia · 15/08/2026 10:53

Dh is taking dc away camping for the weekend, so once they go off, I’m going to go look after my horse and spend some time with him. Then go to the shop to get some nice food for the weekend. Then I’m going to read in the shade in the garden and maybe have a nap. This evening once it’s cooler, I’m going to pick some blackberries to freeze and do some gardening before I make myself a nice dinner. My weekends are not usually like this!

Sherararara · 15/08/2026 10:54

Having a BBQ later.

topcat2014 · 15/08/2026 10:55

As per my usual weekend, I am running my wife's art gallery. Oddly enough, given the weather, we have just taken delivery of umbrellas with artwork on them.

Might have to wait for some rain before we begin trying to promote them on the socials!

BCBird · 15/08/2026 11:03

Hi Lucy's mam and everyone else. Not much for me as my sciatica has kicked in big time. I have just used my litter picker to load knickers individually into the washing machine- can't risk bending:( !!!
would usually get out and about- not today:( will try and read. Can't Will risk going to the library so will meed to download a book on library app. I too have read been reading one that's- meh. Wish I hadn't bothered. Love a poached egg- can't do them successfully so have to fry instead. Hope u all have the best day possible. I know it's been said many times, but thank you for these posts lucysmam. They are the only ones that never turn cattySmile

daffodilandtulip · 15/08/2026 11:07

Morning all.
DD is home from holiday with her bf so we’ve just had a lovely home cooked full breakfast. Now we’re off to the gym. Then I’m taking her on the motorway for the first time since she passed. Pray for me 🙈
DS is kind of post results - he did A Level Maths early and is doing a T Level so all his summer exams counted. He’s done well but is definitely not up for activities this weekend!
We had a lovely carvery last night so we won’t be having our usual crappy Saturday night food. I’m thinking a pork chop dinner.

Sistertroubl · 15/08/2026 11:10

BCBird you can buy poached egg pans. I've got one and it's great.

Long time lurker, first time poster: DW and I have separate social plans today so she's headed out already. I'll have a shower, walk the dog and then off out to meet an old work friend for a coffee. I don't normally bother putting the effort into making work friends but it's nice to have one!

Not sure what's for tea, trying to run down the freezer and cupboards a bit this month so probably some kind of curry.

Thislittlekitten · 15/08/2026 11:10

Morning all

I was up early dropping off DH and DD at the train station for their day out. DDog has refused to walk this morning. He does this now and then. He’s played in the garden and house but will take him out in an hour and hopefully he’ll be happier to walk then.

I’ve loaded the dishwasher but have tons to wash up. We kind of left the housework the last two days. Just been a busy time.

I’ve still course work to finish and back at work and school Monday Tuesday so clothes and uniform to organise.

Not sure about tea yet. Will see what DS fancies.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 15/08/2026 11:12

Morning all! Your day sounds like a perfect, pottering late-summer weekend day, @lucysmam.

I am currently sat in the living room waiting for a very old Kindle to get some battery so I can wipe it clean. DH is wandering around the place trying to locate all our old/unused tech because we are having a big clearout and de-clutter and we're going to take everything we can find down to CEX and try to trade in as much as possible.

Then we are heading off to do some mystery shopping (my new summer holiday side hustle). DD is having her room redecorated over summer and I am trying to make it 'free' by generating extra income and also clearing out as much as humanly possible from our overfull house!

We shall probably grab some coffee/lunch whilst out, then this evening the two of us are off to watch Spiderman at the cinema.

DS1 (18) is asleep, probably will be for some time as he's become nocturnal over the summer. He was at the gym until 3.30am...

DS2 (15) is in the living room playing on the Wii, which is his new love. He loves a retro gaming system.

DD (13) is in her bedroom, refusing to come out/wash/be normal and just bedrotting. She and DH are off for a bike ride tomorrow and she's got a very busy week next week so I'm happy to leave her to it.

Hope everybody has a lovely day. Can't wait for the weather to just end now, though.

ayvasili · 15/08/2026 11:21

It's 15th august, so a big party day here in Cyprus, celebrating the assumption of the Virgin Mary.
We are preparing for our big fat greek BBQ later this afternoon. then when the sun goes down we are heading up the mountains, where it will be much cooler, to lie under the stars and watch out for the Perseids.

lucysmam · 15/08/2026 11:22

@BCBird as funny an image as loading the washer using a litter picker creates; that must be incredibly frustrating! I hope you get some relief 💐.

@MoreIcedLattePlease yes, I suppose it is. I'm quite enjoying this summer holidays not being a million miles an hour to be here-there-and-everywhere.

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I hope you're feeling better now?

@lucysmam, can I recommend a really brilliant book called The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah. Honestly the best book ive ever read.

I dot know. They might be popular whilst we yearn for some rain! A reminder

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 15/08/2026 11:35

Thanks @lucysmam . Im ok but I suspect I have gallbladder issues. I'll probably have to see a doctor. Sigh.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/08/2026 11:45

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I have had breakfast and a shower, photographed, measured and uploaded about 6 items for Vinted and cleaned and tidied grandson Houdini's room ready for him and his mum to come down next weekend. That included swapping his winter weight duvet for a lightweight one as I haven't seen him since April I think!

I got the results of my mammogram yesterday - nothing nasty found which is somewhat reassuring, but not entirely as my original breast cancer wasn't found on mammogram and was actually quite substantial by the time it was diagnosed 9 months later! Let that be a lesson to all you ladies - don't rely on mammograms - do your own checks regularly!

I had a busy day cooking yesterday so I have a chicken to dismember and chop ready for coronation chicken to take up to my sister's on Wednesday. I will freeze the chicken for the moment but not make/add the sauce until the day before. I have been instructed not to add sultanas, which is a shame, as I think that little burst of sweetness really enhances it. I have a big batch of Bolognese sauce to split and put in the freezer as well. I will boil up the chicken carcass for stock for the soup I will have got lunch tomorrow. I also need to make some ratatouille to have with my cod tonight. I now have LOTS of tomatoes ripening in the garden and I have a pepper in the fridge and pre-prepared courgette in the freezer.

So I'm going to have poached cod with ratatouille and baby new potatoes, also out of the garden, this evening. Mr Dilemma will probably have his cod with cheese sauce and peas - and the baby potatoes of course!

My back is also playing up today, I hope yours holds out @lucysmam .

Rowgtfc72 · 15/08/2026 11:58

Morning!
Got up at 2.45 thanks to the sausage dog whining for a wee. Then he waited before I got back to bed to whine because he was hot. Ive been up a while.....sausage dog is currently napping.
House mainly cleaned, just about to do a few jobs in the garden. Have cleaned the drains ready for the torrential rain we're due. Fingers crossed!
Burgers with pulled pork for tea then an early night.

ThisWiseRobin · 15/08/2026 11:59

Opened all the doors and put the fan on. Stood in the window and thanked God for another day and apologised for complaining about my problems - In the great scheme of things, I have nothing much to complain about.
I made gorgeous little gifts for volunteers who I manage. The picture below is from Pinterest, but I copied them exactly, and they look gorgeous.
Right now I'm starting an online course, so I'm trying to grapple with some fantastic new dashboards that I have not used before and trying not to cry !!!
Don't ask me about supper. I don't cook. I have been married to Paul for 30 years this year, and I cooked for him once when we first met. He thanked me and asked me, please, never to try that again. I knew I had found the right man at last. He is an amazing cook and loved it. I have yet to turn the new oven on after 2 years.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning all! What are you all doing today?
