Diggerland (Yorkshire/Kent)

My DS (4) loves diggers and construction vehicles and I've been eyeing up Diggerland for a while. We live not too far from Kent and also have family in Yorkshire so either one would be doable. However, I just priced up Monday at Diggerland Yorkshire for a family of 4 and it's coming out at £108.80, and it just feels like SO much money to spend on one day. Can anyone who has been tell me if its worth it? Thanks!

Have you tried bringing it down with Tesco Clubcard points? Is it a partner?
I think that is eyewatering, given it will be mad busy. Did one up in North East donkeys years ago. It was quite good fun but not worth blowing a hundred quid over.

Ah sorry, just checked.
No discount with Tesco or blue Peter or blue light. And no discounts in July or Aug by the looks of it.

strawberrywhining · 13/08/2026 21:21

Ah thank you for checking, it would have been fab if it were on clubcard!

Mine adored diggerland in Durham. The in-laws took them, still talk about it almost a decade later

I went with a 3.5 yo to the one in Kent. It was very good - full day out even though I was a bit underwhelmed when we first turned up.

It may sound obvious but everything there is a digger - the rides are either made of diggers or just a go on a digger. It was excellent, I drove a jcb!

You can also take your own lunch in - would recommend to save on costs as it is expensive in the cafe.

I went outside of the holidays and I’m not sure I would go inside as I imagine the queues are quite lengthy.

Finally, everything is done on a height basis and they do check so re check this before you go.

Thank you this is very useful! You are swaying me 🤣

We went to the Yorkshire one and loved it. It does look a bit u derwhelming at first, but we all drove diggers and dumptrucks as well as going on rides and it was amazing. There was an indoor soft play sort of thing for wet weather and I nipped in there when I needed to feed the baby, but there was enough to do for almost a full day.

DH was about to say fuck no to the Durham Diggerland prices about 14 years ago, when he and 7 yo were dropped off whilst me and eldest did sports stuff, but DH had promised so he couldn’t back out. They had an absolute ball, and still talk about it. Especially the super extending (and wobbly) high rise platform ride.

Been to the Devon one a few times and loved it. It all feels a bit thrown together, but the kids loved it. Somewhere I have a video of my 5yr old (now 19!) driving a JCB, and he still remembers it. And it is enormously satisfying either digging a massive hole or filling one in.

I’ve recently seen they’re doing 2 for 1 tickets through the sun club - no idea how it works or if you’d be willing it just popped up on insta x

I loved our trip to Diggerland years ago. I work in construction, obviously we (designers) don't get to drive the machines, I did the dumper truck driving course. It was a bit rough and ready but solid fun with real machines. The children loved it too.

I’ve had a go in a mini digger on site - it’s bloody hard to bring the arm down, pull the bucket towards you and curl it up at the same time. Watching a really skilled digger driver that can skim and roll the turf off and then lay it back down at the end, or can feel when they’re on services, is something to behold.

We went to Yorkshire one last year with then 6yo and 3yo and they had an absolute blast. As did DH and I!

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 14/08/2026 12:07

Yes @SabrinaThwaite the wobbly platform 😂
we had reenactments, the lot!

The thing I would say is @strawberrywhining can you afford it? Without cut backs? If the answer is yes, in 10 years time when they’re bigger and care not a jot about diggers, would you rather have taken them and done it, or would you rather have £108?

I’m not saying you have to do everything like this with your kids, but there is a window and you can’t claw it back when it’s closed.

We went to the one in Kent a few years ago when DD was 7 or 8. It was fun, but DD wasn’t as interested in diggers as DH and FIL - they had a great time 😀 I had a go on the smaller ones and now appreciate just how hard it is, and how skilled the operators are. Some of the diggers/ rides are height restricted so I’d advise checking that before you go.

Darragon · 14/08/2026 13:57

Done the Kent one. We had a great day out. Kids were 5 and 2 at the time - it was a birthday treat. We got to go on basically everything as the queues weren’t generally too long (barring maybe one attraction). The food was brill too, iirc. Lots of options.

AllotmentOtter · 14/08/2026 15:14

I went to the Kent one a few years ago with my adult DD and my cousin (also adult) and we all absolutely loved it! We were like kids again, squealing on the rides and laughing hysterically trying to operate the diggers - I'd highly recommend it. We still talk about it and keep saying we must go again.
