I may be alone in saying this as a teacher mum but roll on September 😩😂

I went into school for A level results today, leaving my 15 year old at her friend’s house. My DH is away with work (and doesn’t have school holidays) and we live rurally, so most of the time it is just me and DD, who is lovely but somewhat neurodivergent. I am happy to admit that I spent an hour I didn’t need to spend rearranging my classroom furniture to delay picking DD up again. I may have sat at my desk to do absolutely nothing other than look at my classroom and sigh with relief, too.

Edited for punctuation error.

For me no, I love having more time with dd as I find I don't get as much time with her when we are in the midst of school runs and clubs and work etc. We do only have one dd though.

I have two DC when I had one I loved the school holidays. Now I have two, the eldest a preteen full of sass and the other a feral toddler I sometimes question my life choices 😂.

I do look forward to the holidays and love my time with DC. I do wish the school holidays were spread out a bit more having 1-2 weeks off more frequently. Entertaining two children on a budget for 5 weeks is hardwork!

I really wonder sometimes why we have more than one dc. Life with one seems so calm and peaceful.

Nope. Never understood this. I work to spend time with my kids. They are 1000 x easier than teaching. And more fun.

i had a post come up on my FB Memories from years ago where I’d put “looking forward to going back to work for some peace - bear in mind I work in a school!’

Teaching is ‘easier’ due to the structure of the day, classroom & school rules, social & school expectations, where at home it’s more anything goes and with younger children it’s just non-stop, the days are long.

My children are older now, youngest is 16, I’m no longer a teacher, life is good!
