What is the standard procedure for collecting A level results?

I'm a teacher with a family member also about to get their A Level results. Our respective establishments have different procedures for students to collect their results, and Family Chat wants to know what's standard. Please answer my poll for evidence-based discussion! Thanks!

Is there a standard? When my children did them it was up each person what they wanted to do, at least at the schools they were at.

Maybe some areas are more rigid than others

I don't think it's individual student level. DC's school requires you to collect in person, or provide school with an envelope to post them. The neighbouring school only emails and there is no other option.

DD had to go in in person or authorise someone in advance - that person had to bring ID to get the envelope.

No emails or online results possible

If they're collected in person is the school open from 8am, as I believe this is when Clearing opens and time is of the essence if it's needed.

Our DD results were during Covid.
They were emailed to her

Thanks. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow, however they come.

My daughter will get hers online via the college intranet. So none of your options. She can collect in person if she wants, or get someone else to collect with authorisation. No option to be posted.

I drove DC to school. Stayed in car so he could get results and share with friends. When he was ready he came out to car to share with me. I drove home he went off with friends and I collected him about 3 hours later.

Depends on the centre.

So odd some pupils still have to collect in person in England, it seems to antiquated!

In Scotland the default has always been results by post, with the option for email and/or text - which has been an option for nearly 20 years!

Why is that not standard everywhere?

I don’t think it’s odd, it’s good. Staff on hand to help if there’s a problem. Shared experience with friends.

I like the old fashioned way of going in with your friends! I still remember going in to get mine back in the days when they were all pinned up on a board for all to see!

DD had an unconditional offer so she didn't need to worry about grades but still went in as the others at 8am to talk to her friends, We drove her, she texted us her results and then stayed for a while to chat with friends and teachers.
