Struggling with grief after losing my much loved pet last week

I have no reason for this post except that I need to get this all out. My darling fur baby was put to sleep a week ago tomorrow. They say grief is the price we pay for love, I feel like I am paying trillions. I loved him so much, my heart is aching to have him back with me. I could have had him for eternity and it still wouldn't have been enough time. My house feels empty and all wrong. My love for him knew no bounds, I loved him with all my heart and soul.

I lost my son a couple of years ago and the only thing keeping me afloat is my dogs. Our animals are more important than we realise and there are times this becomes very clear. There's no reason to rush through your grief, it will ease when you're ready.

It’s tough OP & awful losing your pet is awful. Never underestimate the huge place they have in your world, & when they go it leaves a void. I lost one of my beautiful dogs suddenly 3 years ago, still deeply missed & talked of often. I lost his brother a year later again, missed & talked of all the time. My beloved cat, pts after 19 years a few years ago- still talked about & missed. I still miss them now, along with my childhood dog. We brought a new pup into our lives 6 months after our 1st dog suddenly left & it was tough despite his heartbroken brother loving the new addition. Grief of a pet is unbearable & underestimated, give yourself time.
