Frying pans and saucepans.

Hi, this is a world that I don’t understand. Apparently lots of frying pans and saucepans have unsafe, toxic surfaces. I need to replace my set of mixed makes of pans as they are all old and worn out. Can anyone please recommend some good sauce pans and frying pans that won’t stick, are safe to use and don’t cost the earth. I’m thinking maybe two sizes of frying pans, maybe two sauce pans and hopefully not more than £150 all together. If there are really good ones that are a bit more money I could buy a couple now and a couple in a few months. Thank you.

@Lizchapman same here. My M&S stainless steel ones are also around 30 years old and still going strong.

The current ones won't last as long. It's not good practice to sell a product that never needs replacing. The aim is to make something and sell it for a price that the buyer thinks is good value for the expected lifetime. I'm hoping my 30 year old Le Creuset casserole will last me out, a £5 milkpan from Tesco maybe a couple of years at the most, before the handle falls off

We have Stellar and la creuset stainless steel, both good. The non stick pans are ok as long as you don't have them too hot or they are damaged. DH uses one for his porridge each morning but that is a low/med heat

In the last year we have replaced our frying pans with Tefal Titanium Excellence ones, that were heavily reduced. We have been so pleased with them that we bought some more and schlepped them in our hand luggage over to our house in Spain ( we couldn't get the Excellence ones there). That's how much we think of them.

I see they are currently on sale at Asda for hardly any money - highly recommended.

Got some Ninja ones that seem to be ok - better than the expensive Robert Welch ones my husband previously bought!

Love my ninja frying pan, it's a large one with a lid, I use it most days, got it about 2 years ago in the sale, still looks brand new, but I always hand wash it.
Have heavy stainless pans for boiling etc.

I love my Le Creuset frying pans & casserole dishes. But they are very pricey. I've bought mine over the years when there have been good discounts, plus I've found some in charity shops. I've seen quite a few on Facebook Marketplace too. Though I also have a couple of other French casserole dishes in cast iron that I bought from TK Maxx, that are just as good.

Another recommendation for Netherton cast iron, made in England, for a frying pan.

FairViewRosie25 · 11/08/2026 22:35

I’d recommend Scoville

Another vote for stellar pans here. Used them for years on a gas hob and they've been brilliant. I have the version that have lids with drainage holes that are so useful as dont have to faff about with a sieve to drain veg etc.

Stainless steel pans and wok-style lidded frying pan.
Non-stick pancake pan that nobody else is allowed near.

Not all stainless steel is equal. Get decent ones not cheap ones.
