Any experiences of your male DP/DH taking testosterone in midlife??

My mid-40’s DH has been considering taking Testosterone for a while.

Does anyone have experience of their mid life Male partner using it? Good bad or otherwise?

The symptoms that bother him most are a significant drop in libido, less enthusiasm for life, tiredness, and fat gathering on his chest area (gynecomastia).

His blood test results show borderline low testosterone, but not terrible.

He’s pretty fit and does regular strength training. He’d probably benefit from losing maybe a stone, he’s a very tall bloke though and isn’t significantly overweight.

He’s doing loads of his own research and it’s completely his decision of course, but I wondered if anyone here had experience of their partner using it?

I believe it’s quite common for men to be misdiagnosed with depression when the problem is actually low testosterone . It’s a cheap easy fix for nhs.

I’m not so sure it’s purely a cost thing. DH had no issue getting it on the NHS.
It shouldn’t be seen in the same way as HRT is for women though. There are significant risks to taking it, hence they
are relevant if you are borderline. It also has to be carefully followed up and monitored with blood tests and appointments etc every few months which can be a hassle
It’s not a silver bullet as the mixed responses on this thread show.
