Cleaning melted plastic from induction hob

Staying at a friend's house while they are away and accidentally put tea towel down on a still hot induction hob for a few seconds. The tea towel seems to have been high percentage polyester or similar and had melted and left a bit of residue on the ring. Is there anything I can do to get it off? Tried scrubbing with a sponge which hasn't made any difference.

Thought maybe to put the ring on low heat and see if I can melt it scrub it off or possibly thought that I might be able to continue using the ring as normal and it might burn away.

Anyone had this before and have any tips?

Have a look on A—-n for a non-scratch hob scraper.

I would heat it up again to get it off

My husband did this but with a baking tray. You need to freeze area where plastic is - use bag of frozen peas or something- as that will make plastic brittle. Then get a plastic scraper/spatula and just work round edges of plastic pushing it - it will come off.

We managed to melt a piece of sweatband that we used in between pans. Didn't realise it's fabric bonded with glue and it melted

We basically spent ages trying to scrape it off, i didn't realise you could freeze it

Will try freezing it and see how it goes first. It's a really small bit of plastic so hoping that will do the trick.

Freezing didn't have any effect. Will try and order a scraper thing and hope it arrives soon.

Razor blade

This morning I found some special indication hob cleaner with a magic sponge in the cupboard which has done the job nicely. There are still a few stubborn dots of plastic left but it's a lot better than before. Will go at it with some elbow grease tomorrow and I'm confident it will come off.

A little bit of boiling water from the kettle may soften it enough to scrub off without burning anything on. Only enough to make a little pool though - don't spill water everywhere!
