Back dated payment

So my son has been awarded the highest rate for child disability payment. He’s significantly delayed, he’s going on 4 next week but mentally is probably about 1.5 years ish, only just learned foot to floor ride ons last week!
weve had a semi large backdated payment which I’m putting some away, booking him a caravan holiday as he lovesssss them, but what else can I use the backdated money for? I know I can use it on essentially anything but just looking for other ideas, maybe big sensory items you’ve purchased just any ideas at all really!
im basically asking what you would spend say 1.5 k on for your child if you had it.

We have created a sensory room and 2 of ours use water to regulate so things like a decent sized pool and a hot tub are used daily. which dla helped purchase for them.

I think we used my girls backpay to buy a iPad and software so she had a communication device. And it was a game changer.
my boys was a disability stroller to keep him safe.

we also use for swim lessons as they like to go by water. And well I worry about drowning. Tried teaching myself. But they progress more in lessons.

I think it depends because I know ours gets swallowed by expenses. Speech therapy, nappies, clothes from chewing, parking etc for appointments, food. Pringles is so expensive these days.

but we also find we have to fund a extra adult when we go away so it helps with that.

both of them have there own sheds in the garden to go to when they need to regulate away from everyone. So creating safe spaces for them.

we end up replacing trampoline as it’s well used by them.

my girl who has gdd uses special cutlery. She finds them easier to use and appropriately use a knife. we run with a set at grand parents each. And a couple sets at home.

overall I think it depends on your child and what there needs are.

@sunshineandrain82 thats really helpful thank you!!
the difference this money is going to make is unbelievable, his clothes get destroyed so quickly as he loves messy play at nursery and constantly rips the bum of his trousers from sliding down the muddy hill! He’ll also only wear real crocs, and he also gets a haircut every 4 weeks otherwise it’s hell on earth as he gets out of routine so just knowing all of that is covered now is so handy. I’ve booked him into swimming lessons, and I’m enquiring about a few other things to do with him, we’ve took out a membership for the zoo too as he loves it for the penguins, and I can now finally get him into therapies, either speech or music but the fact I can now actually consider these things is just amazing tbh, he did have all his basics met sensory wise but this money is gonna actually change his wee life

My daughter likes enclosed spaces where she can be completely alone. I got her a TP toys ufo swinging den and she loves it.

I also have to fund an extra adult to go on holidays so I use dd’s on that as well. Ditto nappies, expensive branded food because she won’t eat the cheaper alternatives. I’ve tried one to one swimming lessons but she wasn’t able to grasp it but could be an idea for other children.
