Where do you buy plants for the home?

I mean the sort you’d keep in pots indoors or in a porch, rather than plants for the garden.
I went to two garden centres yesterday and was quite shocked by the prices. I’d have had to spend a small fortune just to come away with a small selection.
Where do people buy reasonably priced houseplants? Somewhere online? I’m not looking for anything particularly unusual, just a decent selection without spending £20+ per plant.

IKEA have nice plants, not expensive at all. I like B and Q as well.

If you have a local market there is often a plant stall, although ours is always outdoor plants.

If you have friends with aloes or spider plants you can take cuttings - they take root very easily.

Bigger Range stores often have houseplants and they're good value. I've bought from b and q but I think they're quite overpriced and often pest ridden so beware.
As with outdoor plants you can find bargains at the smaller local places or local garden events and Marketplace is full of houseplants that are usually pretty cheap.
I will say that once you've started a collection you might find the range of cheap plants becomes limited. Some houseplants just take longer to grow and are more challenging so they cost more.

Aldi and Lidl

I sometimes buy them in supermarkets - especially ones that are reduced in price and need a bit of tlc to bring them on.

Also charity shops - often small plants propagated and donated by volunteers or customers.

Sometimes locally there are events held to raise money for charities or causes and house plants are included in amongst the other items. Again ones that have been propagated by donors.

I also have bought house plants on ebay when there has been a particular variety I have wanted. They have been reasonably priced and decent quality.

I refuse to spend a lot of money on expensive houseplants.

I order online from Beards and Daisies. I’ve had some beautiful plants and also used to send gifts. They often have offers on and do plant bundles including some that need TLC.

Supermarkets, The Range.

Propagation from friends and family - I currently have 6 peace lily plants from an original 2, I'd happily pass one or two on if someone wanted one. Similarly I have a number of plants passed on from others.

Supermarkets usually have houseplants at decent prices and it often includes a nice pot too. I got a large monstera for something like £18 recently, including a coir stake, from Sainsbury’s or M&S (I forget which!).

I’m lucky that we have a small garden centre near me that sells small houseplants 3 for £8! You have to pot them on quite quickly but they’re well priced.

Otherwise keep an eye on Facebook marketplace

I have lots of houseplants all acquired cheaply from a variety of places:
Facebook Marketplace..including a huge Monstera in a lovely pot
Summer fetes and charity shops
Aldi/Lidl/B &M (check for pests)
Local plant and livestock auction
Columbia flower market in London
Propogating easy plants like spider plants and Cacti
Morrisons do cheap plants and sell off sickly ones very cheap if you willing to put effort in to revive them
Swaps with friends/neighbours/my hairdresser!
i have about 40 now and have had to download an app to give me a watering schedule…I keep saying i wont get anymore but cant resist a bargain!
