How do you store your pans?

This has been driving me mad for years so I finally want to do something about it. My pans live under the sink, so not loads of space. I have two large, one medium, and a milk pan, all with lids. When I stack them I put the lid upside down, with the next pan on top, but they just slide into each other. What do you use to stack your pans?
The lids have a thick rim so I can’t use one of those things that attaches to the cupboard door where you slide the lids in.

In the 2 drawers under my hob.
Larger casseroles and things not used frequently are in the carousel in the under counter corner cupboard.

In a big drawer. Every now and then I give it a tidy up but then I want the frying pan at the bottom, give it a yank and the five saucepans on top go flying. The cheese grater is wedged in there too. It’s almost as stressful as the tangled coat-hanger scenario.

I stuff them in and close the door as fast as possible.

Shoved in a cupboard in a pile.

Drawer - with frying pans in another drawer

YouSawBrigadoon · 06/08/2026 07:47

In 2 of those deep, wide drawers.

Smaller pan inside larger pan. Smaller pan's lid on upside down. Larger pan's lid on right way up.

Only works for two pans though.

I have a pan drawer next to the oven/hob. It's about 3 pans wide and 2 pans deep. I stack my Ninja pans without lids which takes one of the 6 spaces, I have other pans/casserole dishes in 4 of the spaces. As these are placed singly, they have their lids on. The remaining pan space is where the lids go.

The pan drawer underneath mostly has different kinds of chopping boards (not the wooden ones) the wok with lid, and also cast iron frying pan, plus two ninja frying pans of different sizes (someone is an omelette pan really)

The larger ovenware goes in one of those magic cupboards with a carousel that comes out with shelves.

Can you rearrange your kitchen to find more space for them? I only really put cleaning products under the sink.

DH has built an overhead pot rack in every house we have lived in. The current one is over the double sink close to the stovetop. Everything is easily accessible, they are brilliant.

I’m so relieved there’s other people living the same life- here everything falls when I try to get anything!!

This is me. We have a horrible kitchen so they’re in a cupboard that goes around the corner. Awful!

My parents have a stacking shelf thing they’ve put in the cupboard which works well. You can get out just the pan you want without playing jenga!

CountryGirlInTheCity · 06/08/2026 08:31

I found it was the lids in an untidy pile that drove me crazy so I got one of those racks from Ikea. Also a game changer is having them in a deep, wide pan drawer not a cupboard to be honest as you don’t have to lift out the whole stack of saucepans each time to get the one you want.

Frying pans I stack in the pan drawer biggest to smallest with felt pan savers in between each one.

Pans are stacked in one another under the sink cupboard and the kids are in a small drawer on the opposite side of the kitchen.

Which now I think about it is pretty annoying but not all cooking is done with lids and not enough room for them under the sink cupboard.

PersephoneParlormaid · 06/08/2026 11:08

One side of that might help, I’ll look at it, thanks

Next to the cooker in a special drawer that swings out, lids above. All pans and casserole pots stacked inside each other, smaller baking trays too, cheese grater, then frying pan, wok and lids on shelf above in same drawer.

I’d like to hang them above somewhere but this was a good solution instead of that.

Scampuss · 06/08/2026 11:40

I have one of these, in purple, next to the cooker:

This has really made me chuckle.

Great idea to stash the children out of the way in a drawer 😂
