What food can you no longer face after overdoing it?

Gutted I can’t face pizza anymore. It’s such a useful standby, or what to have on holiday when you’ve been eating out for a week, it’s cheap, it’s reliable. I’ve eaten pizza since I discovered Pizza Hut 40 years ago, eaten all sorts all over the world.

had a week where ended up for various reasons having pizza 3 times, with 3 different sets of friends. I can’t even look at one now.

what’s your food you can’t face anymore?

I was sick after eating too many mini jam Swiss rolls when I was about 12yo. I haven't eaten one in more than 40 years.

Aviarythebird · 05/08/2026 19:35

This is a bit niche but I ate so many medlars three years ago I was sick. I really loved medlars but now can’t face them. I keep hoping it’ll pass.

I overdid raspberries from our garden as a ten year old, we had a glut of them. It's only in the last couple of years I've been able to eat them again and I'm in my 60s now.

Ribena from when I was a child, or any blackcurrant type drink for that matter … just eurghhhh. In my teens when everyone would order a strongbow black it would make me heave and went off strongbow too, too many slushies!

Ipsevenenabibas · 05/08/2026 20:36

Palma violets - ate a whole bag of them as a kid and barfed them all back up. Can't even look at them without feeling sick. Same with Ferrero Roche lol, except this time as an adult 🐷

Chicken cream pie. Ate so many from the local butcher when about 14 then suddenly half way through the last one I had an overwhelming revulsion and never ate any chicken since let alone a pie version. My mouth waters like that sick feeling just typing this.

I came on to say exactly the same thing.
I was a greedy 8 year old when I stuffed myself so full of raspberries from the garden that I was sick afterwards.
Haven't touched them since, although I clearly once loved the little red demons.

I used to love coconut flavoured things then ate a whole tub of sticks with coconut cream in them. Felt so sick I can't even stand the smell of coconut now!

PauliesWalnuts · 05/08/2026 22:46

Brought up on a very low sugar diet as my grandad was a dental engineer, so drinks were either water or milk. Went on first family holiday abroad and binged on Coca Cola. Cannot stand the sight of it after that week and can’t understand how anyone could tolerate more than a couple of mouthfuls.

CeliaCanth · 05/08/2026 22:47

Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Had two at work one day and felt thoroughly sick for the rest of the day. Far too sweet and sickly. I’ve never managed to eat another from that day onwards.

MyDuvetDay · 05/08/2026 22:49

Paninis. When I was a teenager I suffered a horrendous gastrointestinal infection and it happened to strike shortly after I ate a toasted cheesy panini. The kind you’d buy in a standard caff. Probably nothing to do with the sandwich but I still can’t eat a toasted sandwich with melted cheese. It’s a real shame

Imanexcellentdrivercharliebabbit · 05/08/2026 22:50

Halloumi everything then had some in spoons

Halloumied out now

NotMyRealAccount · 05/08/2026 22:51

Hula hoops, having eaten an entire large bag of the M&S own brand ones in a sitting when I was around 10 and then vomited them up in the kitchen sink while my mum told me, not without justification, that I was disgusting and it served me right for being so greedy.

littlebigchicken · 05/08/2026 22:51

Papaya juice. I drank too much on holiday in 2001.

DierdreDaphne · 05/08/2026 23:00

I remember as a biology undergrad being taught about the hard wiring in mammals (rats specifically iirc) to be revolted by any food eaten shortly before barfing, as a protection against making the same mistake again. So it's quite hard to fight.

Like a pp I have now overcome the effects brought in when my mother used rancid coconut to make some kind of flap jack concoctions back in the 1960s...quite like coconut now!

Tiredbean · 05/08/2026 23:15

Hot dogs. Went through a phase around 5 years ago of eating them regularly - like 2/3 times a week. Cannot even smell them now without feeling sick.

Alcohol wise - Bacardi. Got very drunk on Bacardi as a 15 year old after sneaking it out from my parents drink cabinet. Haven’t drank it since. Over 30 years ago.

liveforsummer · 05/08/2026 23:33

Pesto pasta. So quick, easy and relatively healthy but I can’t look at it anymore after too many quick easy meals 😆

RiotNotDiet · 05/08/2026 23:44

Lost a tooth on a Dime bar, could never face them after that

rainbowsparkle28 · 05/08/2026 23:46

Gluten (plot twist - I’m coeliac 🙋‍♀️)…

SW per chance - see also ‘as much pasta and tinned tuna mixed together’ as you can physically ingest because ‘it’s free’ ( no dressing obvs. Just. Dry)

hopspot · 09/08/2026 00:20

Apple muller lights after living on them when dieting and then force feeding myself one during a bout of Tonsilitis.

I also can no longer eat large pieces of meat such as lamb steaks, kebabs or pork chops. I get awful indigestion that is so bad I can’t even sit down for hours.

Davros · 09/08/2026 00:31

Pernod
southern Comfort

Oh god, I had a brief stint at SW. They were obsessed with pasta and Muller Lites. The SW leader was a little dumpy woman, it was all very Marjorie Dawes.

CoastalCalm · 09/08/2026 00:46

Guylain chocolate seashells , I bought a pack of three boxes back from a trip once and got stoned and ate two of them - was so sick I can’t even look at them now
