Abnormal abdominal examination

  • Today the GP found a small firm fullness during an abdominal exam and a firmness anteriorly when doing a rectal exam.
  • im so fucking scared right now, been referred on 2 week pathway.
Anyone have words of comfort?

I went in as had bleeding after wiping after pooing but it’s likely to be an anal fissure (also found during rectal exam).
Im clinging to hope it’s something benign like my fibroids and not something that’s metastatic

I know you're afraid OP, anyone would be, I'm sending you a hand hold, but very good that you went promptly to your GP, for what is likely a fissure. Count it as a blessing in disguise that your conscientious GP did an abdominal exam instead of stopping at treating the fissure. Early detection is vital and not many people get a warning as you did to alert your GP of a possible problem.
So in that way you have to be positive that whatever is found whether it be benign or not, has been detected early.
It won't be long before you will know the result of your examination, and yes you will be scared in the meantime. Try to hang on to the thought that you were seen earlier rather than later.
Sorry I couldn't be of more comfort, but I send you a huh and wish you well OP xx.

A hug, not a huh :)

Thank you, trying to see that as a positive but mind has jumped ahead by 10
steps to it being cancer and cancer that has metastasised (2 lumps).
im so gutted. I have a lovely little girl and life was getting good for us

Please don't give up @velvetglow . Yesterday was a very scary day for you and sometimes our imaginings get the better of us, and not to our benefit.
Let your little girl keep you grounded, and try hard not to think the worst, it does no good to prepare for something that won't necessarily happen.
Often previous experience with what we fear the most clouds our thoughts and we can't think straight.
The outcome won't necessarily be a negative one.
Try not to worry too much, take care...

Anyone?

Have you tried posting your concerns in the talk topic of "Health"?
Go to " Talk", then " All Talk Topics", then scroll down the list to the talk topic "Health", where there will be different threads including one called "Cancer".
If you haven't tried it, you're more likely to receive a response, and I do hope that you find the support you're looking for.

Thinking of you xx

Hi, I work in Endoscopy and I can genuinely say we get hundreds of cases like yours. People have had scans/tests/results etc and suspected cancer. And honestly OP, the vast, vast majority have nothing found, or benign findings. Is it endoscopy you have been referred to?
Even if it is cancer, OP, the treatments are amazing now. You are going from zero to 2000 OP, the worst case scenario you are thinking of is really very rare.
Please be kind to yourself, really try not to think the worst. I know it's not easy.

Yes, was put on 2w pathway for a 'palpable mass' which was felt via digital exam and turned out to be internal haemorrhoids confirmed via sigmoidoscopy. Thinking of you!
