Have just accepted that baby #2 isnt on the cards for us, but fortunatley we have a lovely almost 5 year old daughter.

I do keep feeling a bit sad that she wont ever be a big sister though.

Can people with one daughter please tell me loads of reasons why having one daughter is great? Need some things to make me smile!

I have two DD and they fight like cat and dog. It's exhausting.

I had my DD at 42 and feel very lucky because I left it so late! She is 23 now and still the child I would have chosen above all others, if in some mythical world choosing were possible.

Her interests, aptitudes and sense of humour are similar to mine so we had long, long conversations that would have been more difficult if there were other children around. I think it was probably easier for her to find her own way because I felt relaxed about being a parent and so have been able to watch her flourish. Her choices, to be fair, have been good ones so little intervention has been needed.

Would we have been able to fund years of music lessons and independent school at sixth form had we had other children? I'll never know but it's a privilege to have been able to do that for her. Without spoiling her, I've tried to help her feel that being an only child is special - quite easy as I have two close friends who are only children and a cousin of her cousins is an only child too.

Thank you all so much! Feeling it a bit over the summer as their seems to be siblings everywhere and a couple of her school friends have just become big sisters. But I'm lucky to have her, I know. Positive thoughts from now on!

I have 1 daughter and would have loved another.

But we have the best time. We gave just been away on a girls trip. Spend lots of time together and she loves being an only. She is 16 now and is truely one of my favorite people.
