Men's shed for women...is that a thing?

Men's sheds is an organisation set up to improve men's mental health because they're more likely not to seek help or have anyone to talk to than women. It's a great cause, I fully support it. But is there anything like that for women?

The assumption seems to be that women have people to talk to about their mental health - friends, sisters, family etc. But what about those of us who have no one?

I have family (just parents, no partner or kids) but I can't talk to them. I don't have any friends but of the friends I've had in the past we never talked about things like that.
I know there are groups for women like the WI but it's not the same sort of thing. Is there a group for us lonely weirdo women with no one to talk to? With or without the woodworking element?

I'd ask my local men's shed if I could join but I don't know if that would make anyone uncomfortable.

That accepted men.

I know. And there wasn't much uproar unfortunately.

Facebook is full of women's groups. In my area there's a local women's social group where anyone can organise a meet up (they do all sorts from coffee to days out and hobbies), walking groups, knitting/crochet groups, lots of sports are mostly women yoga/pilates/Zumba/dancercise, the local council runs various meetups etc

Our local one does have a women's section - she shed, so may be worth asking them
Our library has a board with all sorts of clubs that are around, may be worth you having a look in yours?
There's also meetup or another one called empty chairs that is gathering momentum!

I think there is some confusion about the purpose of Mens Shed. As mentioned it is designed as a non sporting place for men to socialise. However it is not particularly a place to talk/mental health related. That is Andy's man club whoae tag line is 'it's OK to talk' obviously men's shed can help as well.

The one near us is a place where men can go and hang out and do some woodworking. I don't think they are necessarily there to talk specifically about mental health. I think it is more about having some company and combating loneliness.
