Britain swelters in yet another heatwave.

In the TalkLair, all the curtains are closed against the blazing sun as the denizens lurk like creatures of the night... or maybe we are creatures of the night. But rest assured, despite our scary fangs, the denizens of the lair are a welcoming bunch, always eager for general chit-chat on all manner of topics. We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

DH was telling me about his flight back from Amsterdam at the weekend. A young couple waiting to get on the bus at the gate.

The woman had a takeaway cup of coffee, so the staff had to say "You can't take that on the bus".

Then they got to the aeroplane and were waiting to ascend the stairs. The man took out his vape and began to take a few puffs. Staff member had to hurry forward shouting "You can't vape here!".

Then they boarded the plane and opened a can of Heineken. Cabin crew had to tell them "You can't drink alcohol purchased elsewhere!"
