Wembly Concert, would I like it?

So might have chance to go to Wembley to watch a concert. Done 02 but standing near the front and amazing and well organised.

Never done a big outdoor concert like this. What's putting me off is:

The heat... its a good week away and looks like it might be hot again. I dont want to over heat or feel ill or is it cool when you are seated?

Being seated so high up might feel weird, funny...do people stand up and overcrowd and dance or do people stay seated?

Also so high up you wont see artist as such

So many people there will it be scarey

I was at Wembley last Friday for Harry Styles. We were sitting in block 205 and it was fine even in the heat, there were even quite nice gusts of breeze at times.

However, the other side of the stadium (around blocks 215 -224 and 515 - 524, the sun was right on them for quite a while and I would say possibly quite uncomfortable.

I've only ever sat in the 200s, but I've seen people say that there are no bad seats at Wembley.

Mostly people stand up, but once the rows in front of you are filled up, you probably won't feel the height so much. I have heard that getting up and down the steps in the 500s can be tricky if you've got any kind of issue with heights.

So do you watch the screens rather than the artist as yr so high up etc

I just dont know if I will like it

Wembley is fine in the heat in the evening. But be prepared for the big queue for the tube coming out at the end - although it is very well managed by the staff

The sound in stadiums is always compromised, especially if you are far away from the stage. And of course you have zero connection with the artists as even if you are at the barrier they are much higher than you.

Go for the spectacle, but don’t expect the same sort of immersive experience that you get at, say, the Roundhouse or Underworld.

Should be all right in the evening.

Depends on the artist whether people dance. If they do they don’t ’overcrowd’. They dance in front of their own seat.

Well, obviously, yes, you’re further away than you would be in a small venue. There are massive screens though*

What is there to be scared of? It’s a stadium. It holds that many people all the time.

Most people will stand up at a stadium concert. All it takes is one row of people to do so and everyone else has to otherwise you see nothing. I always try to get seats on the front row of a section so I can choose whether to stand or not. I never get floor seats as you definitely will be standing and may not see anything at all. You can still enjoy the concert from high up. You’d have to be very close to the front not to watch the screens at all. It will probably be hot but you can stand in the concourse til the concert starts if it’s too much.

I don’t find stadium concerts particularly scary but there obviously will be a lot of people there. Make sure you check the bag policy at the venue and don’t bother trying to get round it. Best to take no bag at all but I realise sometimes you need one so be sure to check out what’s acceptable and what’s not. And if you’re using public transport, make sure your expectations on how long it will take to get home are realistic. Enjoy the concert!

I agree with all of this.

I’ve been to Wembley stadium a few times. Most people stand in the seated area once the main act is on. Make sure you know how you are getting home, a lot of people start leaving at the last song to make a head start.

I am not a fan of huge crowds but was at Wembley last week for Harry styles in a 500 section. It was fine, we were high enough up not to be in the sun, and it was a reasonable temp in the evening. Everyone stood up but just in front of their own seat.
we just stayed seated for 5-10 mins at the end to let the biggest crowds leave the stadium so while there were obviously thousands of people around, it wasn't a huge crush and the crowd moved pretty quickly. We didn't need the tube afterwards so once you'd walked past the tube exit the crowd thinned down a lot.
I completely agree that you don't feel connected to the gig in the same way as a smaller space. It's a spectacle rather than a normal live music event.

Fizbosshoes · Yesterday 08:12

I saw Harry Styles during the week when it was 35° +, we were in block 500 and something, the sun was directly on us for probably 20 min and it was very hot all evening, even after dusk. Nearly everyone had fans. I dont think ive ever sweated so much! Outside the stadium was super hot as well. But the concert was amazing. I left before the last song because if you're high up and at the back it can take an age to get to the station.

Fightingdragonswithyou · Yesterday 08:18

I've done 2 massive concerts at Wembley, both in the 500s.

The view is incredible, you get to see all the lights and crowd. There were big screens up to watch too.
Everyone stood and danced.
Getting out is busy but fine, just have a plan of where you heed to be.

Wembley is well versed in how to handle big crowds, go, it'll be great!

WeddingInvitation · Yesterday 08:23

The last big stadium gig I went to was arsenal emirates so not as big as Wembley. But it was great. Well organised and fun atmosphere. I found the O2 worse, it was so steep, the dancing was intrusive and I vowed never to go again. Till I did and really enjoyed it….

Eggybreadwithnuts · Yesterday 09:49

Not for me I dont think I like to be up and close to the artist.
