AI-written posts (by mumsnet?)

I keep seeing posts that have a similar kind of look and tone. Do you think Mumsnet ever uses AI to create posts in order to keep their web traffic high (and therefore their advertisers happy)?!

The recent ones I’m thinking of were: long, slightly cheesy in tone, lots of superfluous detail so they read almost like a short story, and finished with a question or two to the reader.

Don’t want to name in case I’m wrong and offend anyone!!

Yes, they probably have bots creating such posts for traffic and engagement. Very common technique across many platforms, for the reasons that you stated. It's so dull, people literally discussing made up scenarios so they can earn some £. Tragic

Yes. Sure. Keeping up traffic and £.

I know the posts you mean and think they are AI but I have no reason to believe Mumsnet creates them.

Yes I think there are loads. The numbers viewing the threads are never that high so I think MN try and drum up interest.

I’ve wondered this as well. Or are they all generated by 16 year olds who’ve finished their GCSEs and are now at home with lots of time on their hands? Certainly a lot of AI style posts.

I've been asking this question regularly for about 2 years. No one ever answers. HQ certainly won't.

Yes I was just thinking this earlier! I couldn't quite put my finger on what makes those posts stand out to me, but you've described it well. It's like they're meant to have funny jokes in them and lots of description, but they just don't quite sound natural.
I hadn't thought it was Mumsnet generating them (I had just imagined a bored MN poster generating it through AI), but if they are then I wish they'd stop as I can't enjoy any of those threads as they just feel fake.
