i am looking to buy an air purifier for my son who has the most awful hayfever.
this year is particularly worse and it is affecting his sleep a lot. He is 18 for context.
any recommendations? Many thanks

budget: max £150

I got one called Blueair mini max a few weeks ago. It seems to have helped my daughter (touch wood). Her hayfever has been far worse this year than ever before! Unfortunately she also suffers from nosebleeds, so we’ve had a miserable few weeks since the end of May. Since getting the purifier we’ve had far less issues, (again touch wood!) but I don’t know if it’s a general change in the pollen or that the purifier has helped. It has a night mode which is very quiet and she says it’s quite relaxing, she usually listens to white noise though so if your son likes a silent room I don’t know how noticeable it would be

Thanks for sharing @nogainjustpain

i eventually bought two on amazon:
Levoit Core 2005 and 3005.
the 2005 is smaller, quieter and slightly less efficient
the 3005 is a bit bigger, a bit noisier (but not in night time mode or on 1st setting), can do larger rooms and more efficient
so ive kept the 3005 model due to good reviews and on the basis that it is more efficient and can do larger rooms (thinking about moving it downstairs in winter

edit to say: in terms of hayfever, it seems to work with better sleep and less runny nose/need for tissues during the night. A win!

We have a Dyson one. DH is the hayfever sufferer, he likes it.

Just to add another potential product you might not know about, do you know you can get screens for your windows that have a pollen filter? We have the midge mesh stuff. Ours attach with magnetic strips but you can get hinged ones. This is an example and we bought ours from here but there are loads out there, full windows, doors etc.

They would be particularly good for his bedroom window meaning he can have it open and stop pollen coming into the room.
