I always get this, have never found a cause but hydrocortisone always clears it with a couple of applications.

In trying to avoid steroids on eyelids I have tried many creams for this. The best I have found for daily use twice a day is Doublebase Dayleve Gel. A little bit sticky feeling but works better than the other many I have tried.

Dd (adult) uses Elidel and it works well. Think it’s prescription only

Epaderm cream

I hit this out of nowhere about 3 months ago. A couple of weeks moisturibg with Weleda Skin Food seemed to clear it up. Although it might have cleared up by itself of course.

I use Aveno body lotion - it is the only thing I found that my eyelids could cope with. I do very occasionally put on a tiny amount of hydrocortisone.

When I had this years ago, the Boots pharmacist recommended Golden Eye Ointment.I seem to remember that is made for treating styes but the pharmacist said I just needed to keep it moist with something safe for eyes. It certainly dis t he trick for me

Protopic, but it's prescription only

LizzieSiddal · Yesterday 23:09

When I had this my dr prescribed something and it cleared up very quickly. A pharmacist wouldn’t give me anything as it’s on the eye, however that was a few years ago so things may have changed. So go to the chemist first then if not it will have to be gp.

PSA: If you have this and use metal eyelash curlers, it's worth stopping using them to see if you're reacting to the nickel!

In the last I've had to use a tiny bit of steroid cream (hydrocortisone) but chemists won't let you buy it for eyelids, in theory.

I have had occurrences of this and have cleared it with Vaseline. I think, for me, the cause was eye make up remover. Possibly, the two part ones, both Nivea and Garnier.

I have a Protopic prescription for facial eczema - steroid creams have made a complete mess of it over the years - yes they clear it up initially - but it just comes back far worse!

Thanks for all the advice, I will look into these 😊

I developed severe dry eyes since the eczema too and now have drops for this. It must be connected as I’ve not had this before either 😩

I have bad eczema everywhere but only get it on my eyelids when my hayfever plays up. Take an antihistamine. It will also help with the itch.

Bubbles14 · Today 10:30

I agree with @thefemaleJoshLymanI tried so many things before my GP suggested the blue Aveeno moisturiser and it went the next day!

WinterNightStars · Today 12:12

I was prescribed protopic 0.1% by a dermatologist for eyelid eczema & find it very effective. Only need a tiny bit & clears it quickly.

Shrinkhole · Today 12:14

My DD gets this and she cleared hers up by applying Vaseline every night and Epaderm in the daytime. She also takes antihistamines regularly a she has hayfever as well as eczema and various allergies. Just an atopic person

MacDot · Today 12:16

Betterlids ointment and moisturising eye drops. Also hydrocortisone but technically you’re not supposed to use that on the eye.
