Right to choose ADHD diagnosis. Medication question.

I was diagnosed through a private company via the NHS right to choose pathway.

The same company has started me on medication. I am now upto 40mg Elvanse with a prescription of 50mg to start in a fortnight.

I have monthly video/phone appointments.

Can I just ask how long I will keep seeing the private nurse? It can't be forever surely?
Will my GP eventually take over?
Will I always have to have monthly check ins?
Thanks

The gp will only take over if they agree to shared care. Our gp had no issue taking on my husband ongoing treatmemt / prescription but I have heard some have had issues with GP refusing.

The majority of GP practices won't share care with RTC. We do on a case by case basis but I can't remember the last time that a RTC company has met our criteria (which are pretty simple - diagnosis made by an appropriately qualified doctor and they continue to see the patient once a year and be available for ADHD related queries in between those reviews without the need for a new referral).

Which company is it? Please don't say ADHD 360......

Hmm, I don't know if they do :/

Is there at least more time between appointments eventually?

No, not them.

It's a bit worrying. The meds are really making a huge difference to my life.
I just assumed I would eventually get them from my own Dr

Thanks for that Info.

I went onto my own GPs website and it says they do allow shared care so I am hopeful O can eventually swap over.

Yes. And until you find a GP that will take it over, your current situation stays the same. So whoever is giving you your prescription will carry on doing so but they maybe a cut off to that as care will need to be handed over at some point. I think my husband was 6/7mths.
