Does any one know who stocks this on the high street please ? Is there an alternative product ?

A quick Google is always available to find some answers to this

Meredusoleil · 04/07/2026 14:41

Omg! Isn't that the spray that turned your hair green colour instead of just lightening it a bit?

Allseeingallknowing · 04/07/2026 14:44

Easily available online and similar products are available

No. Don't do this. It will not end well.

Marleyandme71 · 04/07/2026 16:09

Omg Sun In. Is that still going. I remember back in 1989 I was 17, use to use that and my friends mom put a perm on top of it. All my hair off broke off...I'm talking about an inch all over was all that was left. Would NEVER put that near my hair again. It scarred me that much I've always had really long hair, but seriously I use Nice and Easy (Holly Willoughby on the box) and it always turns out lovely. Don't use sun In you'll regret it.

mynameiscalypso · 04/07/2026 16:11

I used to use lemon juice when I was a youngster

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/07/2026 16:14

You can still get similar online. John freida do one.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/07/2026 16:15

I find it fine as long as you dont overdo it. And have other chemicals in hair. Perms straighten
er etc

I tried that too!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/07/2026 16:20

My dd used this and her hairdresser was horrified, she likened it to putting toilet cleaner on your hair.

Ihaveausername · 04/07/2026 16:22

Lemon juice worked for me. Cheaper too

SideboobToYouToo · 04/07/2026 16:22

I used that in 1990, my hair turned into yellow straw.

KitsyWitsy · 04/07/2026 16:24

Haha. Sun in in the 90s. My hair was such an odd colour and the texture of straw! Don't do it OP!

Arlanymor · 04/07/2026 16:24

Why do you want to put Toilet Duck on your head?!

SweatiestTaboo · 04/07/2026 16:27

They still make Sun-In?!

I used it as a young teen circa 1991. It gave me a lovely set of uneven, straw-like ‘highlights’ in a gorgeous shade of ‘nicotine-stained’ yellow Grin

I resembled tweetie pie!

John frieda in the blonde range do a lightening spray that’s basically the same stuff. https://www.boots.com/john-frieda-go-blonder-lightening-spray-100ml-10373863?srsltid=AfmBOopGofyIBKEJ_z7YGLWhISkILvVBHaLb-KiXWI3J2Db5Gag5ILvI

Lararoft · 04/07/2026 17:17

I used this in my dark blonde hair at 16 / 17 as could not afford highlights. Do not recommend.

MandarinCat · 04/07/2026 17:36

I loved that in the 80s. At my secondary school we were allowed to stay in our form room on our own during break times. The lunch break was quite long and the devil makes work for idle hands. One lunch time we got carried away putting Sun In on each other. A parent complained and it caused a stink.

Lentilcakes · 04/07/2026 18:51

I used it aged 14 - in the 80s!! Leave it be.

Thawtfulpanda · 04/07/2026 18:53

Used it in the 90s. Spent the year looking ginger, but not a nice natural ginger, a weird wig-like ginger. Not good. Don't do it! Or if you do please post pics so we can laugh.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/07/2026 18:58

I use John Frieda’s Go Blonder spray, for brightening my (faded natural mousey-fair) hair. You put it on wet hair - the dryer activates it. Very subtle and no roots to touch up! Highly recommended. I only use it every couple of weeks, for me it’s enough.

Thanks I might give this go but will do a test strand first going by all the replies 😂

ShakyBake · 04/07/2026 21:43

Please go careful my friend did this (brunette) in 1988 and woke up ginger half mexican despite being Irish before
