Would teachers want a book token?

DC finishes at a nursery attached to a school and they’ve been absolutely wonderful so I want to get a thank you gift.

But there’s 3 teachers plus a few assistants that change, so can’t get individual gifts.

I thought a tin of good biscuits and some books for the classroom but don’t know which books would be needed.

If I gave a book token, would that be helpful or does it just give them an extra job in having to use it?

If you’re a teacher would you be happy to receive it or see it as more admin?

I would love that.

I assumed from the title you meant would a teacher like a book token for themselves. To which my reply would have been yes, chances are the summer holiday will be the only time all year they'll get a chance to read a book as they work evenings and weekends the rest of the year, and it's a lovely gesture.

You could get them one for school books. I guarantee they'll be spending their own money on these essential resources so it'll be a dent in that. But it's a much nicer gesture to say that they matter.

Not that you need to buy anything- a genuine thanks in a card is perfect. But if you're spending money, do it for them- they deserve it.

You could get a book token eg for £20 or two separate ones and put a message to say one book for kids nursery and the other for themselves. As pp said it’d be nice for them to have something to read in summer hols.

I usually always give vouchers for them, to your point above @MrsKeatsand I wouldn’t mind buying 3 for the main teachers. But there are also at least 3 teaching assistants and they change, so I don’t know exact numbers or names and would hate to do one group and not the other. Especially as I do know one teaching assistant, so it’s not even a clean division between the two groups.

But I really do want to send something because they have just been wonderful and I’m so grateful for all their work.

It’s a tricky one.

Ah ok, I hadn't realised it was quite so tricky to identify the couple that work most with your child. That does make it harder- I think yours is a good plan. Definitely won't be unwanted admin- it'll be a treat to buy extra class books without having to dip into their own purses!

As others have said, a book token is a brilliant teacher gift. I’d love it. They can use it for their own reading or for a school resource e.g. a book about curriculum planning/child development or a book for the classroom. Most teachers spend a fortune on books!
