Itchy bumps on skin

I’ll start by saying I’m 99% sure I’m perimenopausal

but I keep getting these bumps on my skin, all of a sudden one will rise up, they are white, the skin around them becomes insanely itchy and looks almost ‘pin pricked’ for around 20 mins, then within an hour they go. They are often on the side of my face, chest or back of my hand. Just happened now as I was in bed, I’ve gone down rabbit holes googling and of course things like bug bites are suggested, but ive checked everywhere and not a sign, yesterday I was just sitting on the sofa and one raised on my chest. Not changed any washing powder or body stuff, nobody else in the house getting them.

it’s driving me insane and irrationally stressed about aforementioned bugs despite forensically searching like a lunatic and finding nothing

Anyone had similar? What was it?

I’ll try and post a photo but they take a while to show on the app I believe

Prickly heat I think, when I get them i take an antihistamine, no clue why I get them though been happening randomly since I was 45ish.

That would make sense as I’m crazily hot all the time, I used to get it when on holiday abroad but only on my feet, seems odd it’s just one lump. Anti histamine is a good shout

Sudocream is also good if you have been rubbing/scratching cools it down , this is another "joy" we have to put up with 🙄

I’m getting these too and it’s driving me insane to the point where it bleeds and then I end up with an ugly scabby mess. I’m 43 so it could be the start of menopause xx

It looks like prickly heat from what I see on the photo. Could it be soap/hand cream that you're using, then scratching the area that then becomes inflamed?

storminabuttercup · 01/07/2026 12:41

I’ve not changed hand soap but it does look like prickly heat doesn’t it ?

Eurax cream is a good all rounder for itchy skin, insect bites, allergic reactions etc.
