Experiences of reporting neighbors to council for noise?

Basically did it do anything or just cause more problems?

I know the council may offer noise monitoring but I wanted to know if it made the problem worse or better and did it resolve?

Did the council offer more help if the problem didn’t get better or just leave you with an angry NDN?

Really at the point of reporting mine now for a dog that barks all hours of the day and night (up to 1am last night as they went out knowing it does this) but I don’t want to do it unless the council are all in and will actually do something as I think the neighbors may get hard to deal with.

I’ve obviously spoken to them myself multiple times but as the dogs a ‘rescue’ they apparently can’t stop it and refuse to get rid of the dog either as it’s so aggressive it will end up euthanised.

Thanks

We had a council tenant harass us for literal years and it took many police reports and complaints before the council moved her.

As a side note though, we had a rescue who had separation anxiety & it’s actually really stressful to manage/deal with to be honest. I get you’re probably at the end of your rope with the barking (we were so open and really lucky with our neighbours) but suggesting they get rid of their dog is a bit extreme unless there is context missing.

I reported ndn for barking ddog..they wrote to them. They did make efforts to shut it up. It's bearable now.
I do know of a family who had to rehome theirs. Court ordered. Keep going with your complaint op. They put recording devices in lounge and 1 bedroom. You (i have heard)have to pay for the app to upload the recordings. Maybe not every council so do ask. Also post council reports next stage is rspca but they need you to have done via council first.

Neglect case ime.

Context is they work nights or lates so it barks all through the night when they are gone.

Last night it barked and howled from 9pm until 1am in the morning when one of them got back. I’ve got 3 babies and can’t cope.

I think the easiest and kindest solution is if they can find someone that the dog can stay with when they work while they find a long time solution. I got a little tapo camera for our dog so i could hear our house while we were out as, apparently one of our dogs was howling. We left a back door open to the walkway and he just stays in there where its cool and dark. Everytime i log into the tapo while we were out hes silent and neighbours never mentioned it again so we were lucky to have an easy fix. They may find crate training helps their dog feel more secure. I would talk to them sounding like you have a level of empathy for the dog's suffering rather than asking they get rid of the dog. There are solutions through google, on here, (crate training), if they wish to avoid fall outs plus have a happy dog

I’ve got 2 young children myself & can understand where you’re coming from. Is it actually waking your kids up? Making it difficult to get them down? All of the above?

I would suggest something in line with what the previous poster has suggested too over suggesting they get rid of the dog. If someone came around suggesting I got rid of my dog it would probably get my back up, they’ve just as much right to have a pet as you do kids really so the more amicable you can both be to work it out, the more beneficial for everyone involved 🤷🏻‍♀️
