Black gang chine is fun but pricey

Robin Hill is good, and Osborne House if they’re into history. Shackling Chine at night is fun as is the indoor crazy golf at Sandown- trashy but kids love it if the weather’s not great!

Ride the hovercraft to Portsmouth. Visit the Mary Rose and Naval museum.

Take the footpath from Totland over Headon Warren to Alum Bay. Lovely views and everyone can get an ice cream when you get there and go on the chair lift down to the beach. Oh and don’t forget the fill an ornament with coloured sand in the shop.

Park in the free High Down Chalk Pit National Trust car park and walk across Tennyson Down to the Needles Old Battery.

There's a nice cafe there and the Old Battery is interesting for older children and adults.
(There is a charge for this unless you're NT members.)

The walk is high on the cliffs and stunning with sea on both sides.

Don't do it in a heatwave though as there's no shade.

Blackgang Chine, the Aqua Park at Tapnell Farm (a bit like it’s a knockout), Wight Water is Shanklin is great if the kids like water sports (kayaking/paddle boarding/Surfing etc). Osborne House is lovely if they enjoy history. The Wildheart Sanctuary has lions, tigers etc and rescue bears. The Donkey Sanctuary is free and has some lovely walks from there.

There are also boat rides offering boat trips around the Island, in particular from Alum Bay, Yarmouth and Ventnor.
