Teacher gifts.

Were nearly at that time of year again... end of term . Dcs like to take a gift for the teacher. I refuse to buy the mugs / keyrings/ teddies type shite that will just end up in a charity shop the following day.
I have 4 to buy for and no need for TAs as the only ones in dcs classes are 1:1s

What can I get ? It can't be expensive as there's 4 to buy for as I've said.

Do chocolates always go down well , as I know there can be many given?
Alcohol always seems hard because of not knowing if or what they drink?

A Costa/Starbucks gift card is always appreciated! A handmade card from your child sharing a happy memory from the year is good too, I have a box containing notes, pictures and handmade cards going back 25 years. I agree that the mugs/teddies/keyring etc end up in the staffroom or charity shops unfortunately although I have kept one mug.

Something inexpensive like a bookmark and as a PP said a card or note from your child.

We can't possibly know who likes what so there is always an element of guessing. I agree a voucher for the nearest cafe or shop is ideal, one or two cups as a gift is lovely. If they dont drink hot drinks they can choose something else. I've received a plant a few times which is always nice. A bottle of wine is good because it can be regifted if not to their personal taste. Chocolates and biscuits are always a good one. Again if they don't eat them they can share among staff or regift. Two of the best practical gifts I got were a water bottle and a coffee holder and both are used all the time. I like a nice pen too.

A voucher would be gratefully appreciated. You can get online coffee vouchers of £5.

If that's a bit expensive for 4 people, how about a book for the book corner or a stationery pack for the classroom.

Thanks . Going for the coffee shop voucher idea. We have a nice local one I'm going to see if they do vouchers.

I realise you've said a coffee voucher but I'd prefer a bookshop voucher. I'd buy for me or the class, either would make me happy.

I'm a teacher and honestly, don't spend loads. Vouchers are lovely but expensive! Chocolates, flowers, a nice bookmark, just a simple thank you card are all appreciated.

Nothing?

A pair of cool socks. Everyone likes socks!

It’s really hard to predict what people will like. My least favourite gift is alcohol but for others that would be their absolute favourite! I’ve kept any teddies / keychains / mugs and I can remember exactly who gave me which ones, they’re really special to me. At the end of the day, it is a symbol of appreciation so it doesn’t matter too much what you get - the message of thanks is there and that means a lot.

Stationery always works well and is always useful! What about notebook and pen gift sets or personalized planners maybe?
You can also get coffee shop vouchers as these are always useful and appreciated as well, and I agree about a handmade card from the kid. A friend of mine worked as a teacher for a while and she appreciated the cards way more than anything else! In fact, she still keeps every single one she got from the kids she worked with.
