My quiet improvements

I’m a bit adrift - professionally, emotionally, personally and physically. But I also feel this stirring excitement for change - to put in place the habits and grounding to literally evolve me into someone I love being, to transform my life into one that I love to live.

so this thread is a way for me to take stock and document my life changing quietly so that at the end I can look back and see how far I’ve come. I’m not going to talk about them anywhere else with anybody. This is for me; a little secret that I will grow and celebrate each month.

for July, there are three physical things I will do:

  1. run for one hour continuously
  2. drink 2 litres of water every day
  3. take my vitamins every day

the one other thing I will do:

  1. say no more to people interrupting or disrupting my peace.

Sounds like a good workable plan OP.
Since you're feeling somewhat adrift in most aspects of your life, I applaud you for having the will and the determination to change the way you live.
It's clear nothing will change unless you change it.
The first change on the list sounds a bit ambitious, but you can always work up to it, if need be, and be careful in the hot weather.
Good idea too to cut out all the noise around you, we all need a little more peace in our lives.
Wishing you success!

Well done, Op, it sounds great. I agree with pp, take it slow and steady. I really liked something I saw on a youtube video recently where the presenter person said to look at 4 areas of your life and set a small goal for each area for the month ahead. The areas are: Work and Money; Health; Self and Spirituality; Relationships. It doesn't have to be huge changes all at once - for example my Self and Spirituality one was to journal once a week. Then it grows each month and the changes happen over time.

Thank you so much! I should be able to do the hour as I was doing it a few months ago. But have not run for a while now so will work up to it as you say.

its the every day for the water and vitamins that’s a bit daunting - but I can do it!

That sounds great! I think a lot of mine tend to get lumbered into physical but I need to concentrate on all of them really.

self and spirituality - I’m curious, what does that encompass? Would learning a language count?

Yes, OP, I think it would count. Learning a new language requires you to be focused on the moment, actually it's similar to meditation in that way, and as you to focus, you also strengthen your memory and begin to move away from letting any intrusive negative thoughts enter your mind.
All spiritual practices teach you to be aware of and to focus on mindfulness, which you certainly must do as you learn another language. If the language is one from your own family, it has even more meaning personally as it gives you a sense of being connected to those who came before you, which is a form of understanding self.

Good for you, OP!

I did something similar at the start of the year and committed to reading every single day. Even if it’s just five minutes while I’m parked outside waiting for an appointment, I read.
