So Vinted are allegedly selling children. This is one of the many adverts people see, and apparently the French authorities are taking it seriously.

How horrible. I’m sure if reported Vinted will work with the authorities where possible.

Westerled · 27/06/2026 14:47

Awful ive seen people on fb saying similar about this issue.

i had been thinking though that surely there is some drug dealing being done this way.

DP was looking at something on fb seemed a good price then the woman tried to out the price up and wouldnt tell address etc etc and seemed really dodgey she was saying dont mess me about whilst messing him around.

i think there needs to be more effort to shut down the criminals connecting with each other online

Why would anyone use a legitimate site to try to sell children, where they can be traced and may not even find the customers they want. There are plenty of nice secret places for this sort of thing on the dark web. Probably just someone hoping for an idiot to buy a plushy at that price or maybe it's rare. Or hoping someone believes the rubbish, but just gets a plushy, they could hardly complain.

I’ve seen it said about Wayfair also, random furniture of 50k etc

That's because when something is sold out, it's easier to put the price up to a ridiculous amount so no one buys it instead of removing the listing or marking as sold out. This is what I've read about Wayfair.

OverTheWater28 · 27/06/2026 14:52

No. This is a complete conspiracy and some rather gross trolls.

zero truth in it whatsoever. Ditto the same rumour about Wayfair.

Not saying its true, just saying I’ve seen the same about them.

MyKindHiker · 27/06/2026 14:56

I can assure you actual child traffickers are more nefarious in their methods, they are not using platforms like Vinted. It’s just a stupid conspiracy theory.

GisGasGus · 27/06/2026 14:59

This has been doing the rounds for ages and, i would have thought, easy to prove or disprove by investigators buying the items in question and seeing what happens next

I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all but some of the reels on this are a little bit convincing

Ncforthis2267 · 27/06/2026 15:05

For fucks sake op. I suggest you get off tiktok and go outside. Just because some teenagers think it's funny to post 'shock' bs crap like this for clicks does not make it so.

Ninetysixdegreesintheshade · 27/06/2026 15:07

Just another stupid conspiracy theory.

cestlavielife · 27/06/2026 15:12

And it would not be vinted selling..if you sell your coat on vinted then you are selling. Obv if reported vinted check and remove.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 27/06/2026 15:15

To be fair, snipes haven’t absolutely declared it a hoax. They say it’s still under investigation and is unlikely.

HelenaWilson · 27/06/2026 15:25

That's because when something is sold out, it's easier to put the price up to a ridiculous amount so no one buys it instead of removing the listing or marking as sold out. This is what I've read about Wayfair.

The prices are sometimes set by algorithms which calculate based on the number of items available vs the frequency of searches for that item.

It happens with out of print books on Amazon. A friend of mine once queried it with Amazon because she was the author of one of the out of print books in question and thought it was a totally unrealistic price, and that is what she was told. (She wasn't selling the book herself, it would have been some dealer somewhere.)

Soubriquet · 27/06/2026 16:01

Obviously I don’t believe it, which is why I said allegedly. Whoever made this up is obviously getting their rocks on, since they are using such provocative terminology.

no one wants to hear a three year old being described as tight

Every listing I reported to vinted has been removed. I find them quite good in that way. Trolls post to troll.
In comparison reporting to meta has rarely worked even if it’s something obviously racist/ soliciting sex, etc. - they just tell you to block the poster if it’s offensive to you.
so - just report. If the majority of people are decent and report straight away we should be able to keep it clean-ish.
