Which insulated travel mug for….

… keeping ice lollies cold/ frozen for a day out with the children.

I only have two children so it just needs to fit two ice lollies. I can obviously buy smaller ones, mini milks, or fruit pastilles lollies…. But if it can fit slightly larger Fabs, or smarties push up ice creams, then that’s even better.

My friend used an insulated travel mug when we went out a few weeks ago, and at lunch time pulled out three frozen lollies. I can’t seem to find a suitable travel mug as they all seem too short for the sticks to fit. I assume it will need to be a hardcore quality brand like yeti, Stanley, or would thermos still do the trick?

any suggestions welcome please. Budget…. Well, if it’s £100 I would probably not bother at all. But otherwise I would consider £30-60 if it does the job extremely well. If I can get away with £20-40 then that’s even better.

Why not ask your friend what she has?

I have a Yeti flask. Cost about £30 something. I have no idea if it would keep two ice lollies frozen for several hours, but there probably isn’t a better one on the market.

That said, do you have ice lollies out so often that it’s worth packing them? I feel like that is just one of life’s little splurges.

I used to live in Australia and we just used to freeze plastic bottles with water or juice in with a sports top and keep them in an insulated pack lunch bag. They stay frozen for a long time.

Also if you have more than two in there they’ll stay colder for longer. Anything that’s insulated and says ‘cold for 12/24hours’ should do the trick. Maybe you should use a thermal mug/cup/water bottle as they’ll be taller and hold something with a longer stick

A big sho bottle would fit loads in I've had one for years and it's great. When we had to walk home in a heat wave I put ice lollies in there.
