The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee holds the second session of its inquiry into neuroscience and digital childhoods, during which MPs will further explore the evidence, and gaps in this evidence, for the impact of digital devices on children.
The cross-party committee will first hear from Ravi Iyer, Director of USC Marshall’s Psychology of Technology Institute on how digital technologies and devices may affect children and young people, causal evidence for this and how policy makers should respond. MPs may also ask about whether the recently announced social media age restrictions are the right approach.
MPs will then speak to experts and advocates who work closely with children, with questions likely to focus on their first-hand experience of how digital technologies have impacted children and whether these technologies are displacing other activities like sleep or exercise.
Witnesses at 9:30am:
- Ravi Iyer, Managing Director, Psychology of Technology Institute, USC Marshall [Virtual]
Witnesses at 10.00am:
