Before I start - I realize I've been incredibly stupid. Obviously had I thought it through I wouldn't have done this. No my children aren't on social media.

I bought a dressing up costume for my daughter from Vinted. It was damaged and massive. The seller was being pretty hostile. I sent her a photo of my daughter in the costume.

The response I got basically said that I was being incredibly stupid sending her a picture of my daughter, I needed to wise up for her sake.

I can't stop thinking about how stupid I was. This woman continued to message you pretty unpleasantly but what I'm panicked about is the fact she has a photo of my daughter in a too big costume.

I can't undo it. But I feel awful.

Please don’t waste your time worrying about it. It maybe wasn’t the best idea but it’s not the end of the world. It’s not going to affect your dd in any way.

PanickingOnASunday · 22/06/2026 00:03

I hope not :-(

Just block the seller and forget about it

SaraHoliday · 22/06/2026 00:52

Forget it. Move on. Don't repeat it.

There are far worse things than this x Don't be hard on yourself x

I assume the costume was advertised as smaller and not damaged?
If so, the seller has been caught out and is trying to deflect by making you feel bad instead of focusing on how she messed up and how she's going to fix it. It's a little bit shitty on her part, but nothing to get worked up about.

PanickingOnASunday · 22/06/2026 11:45

No it was much bigger than advertised and the wand broke in transit (seller happily accepted that was the case but refused a paid for return or partial refund)
It was just the undertone of the messages about the photo of my daughter that concerned me most

The seller is just trying to distract you so you don't chase a refund. If the item is not as described then Vinted will be on your side - you are entitled to a refund!

bumptybum · 22/06/2026 11:49

You could just reply you’re absolutely right and thank you for highlighting that. And then proceed to continue with your issue as they are separate matters

By acknowledging what she says it takes away that power. If she keeps banging on about it, you can just reply with ‘yes I acknowledge your advice with that’ and then carry on with the issue.

it’s next to no risk that she’s gonna do anything with it. She’s hardly gonna highlight it to you if she’s going to do anything with it And the chances that you just happen to send an image of your daughter to a crazy person who was going to use it is very slim

She asked for a return and I clicked on the label but it was me paying for it .

I kept the item and left her a bad review. Horrible woman.
