Would you wear shorts to a pub lunch in this weather? I’m meeting an old friend. An old boyfriend from 50 years ago.

No I'd wear jeans, a jumper a coat and boots, honestly OP do you need to ask?

Yes it was fun, I enjoyed seeing him. We laughed a lot, conversation flowed. I’d meet up again if he wanted to.
