Family traditions when kids no longer live at home

Was chatting to my mum this afternoon. Her and my dad (both in late 70s) cooked their lunch on the BBQ today. She then mentioned how they then toasted marshmallows on a skewer for pudding.

Hearing this really made me smile as toasting marshmallows was always a family BBQ highlight as a kid. I never realised that they still carried on doing it when it was just the two of them and no kids/grandkids around!

This sounds like such a lovely conversation!

If I'm in the car with my parents at Christmas time they will make a point of detouring and driving me past houses with Christmas lights outside. I moved out almost 20 years ago :)
