Blackheads on DD’s nose

DD is 10 and started having blackheads on the bridge of her nose. She wears glasses and I think it’s pretty common issue.

If your child had the same, what did you do that helped? I think we should probably use some sort of cleanser but I’m not sure which one!

A gentle cleanser like Avene, and then Paula’s choice 2% BHA a few times per week, and an oil free moisturiser.

My DD was a teen though but it worked wonders

Second Paula’s choice BHA

I pay mine per blackhead. Squeezing them out is one of life's great pleasures 😂

I used to use the t zone strips. They're really good. Something satisfying about seeing them all on the paper afterwards.

I actually have Paula’s choice BHA, so will use that, thanks!

She’s had a couple that were proper squeezable blackheads, but now they’re sort of “underripe” ones lol, they are just little white bumps that are permanently there.

Neutrogena do an oil free one. My teen DD uses that. It’s fragrance free and oil free

My daughter uses Bubble cleanser and moisturiser

SqueakyFromme · 18/06/2026 22:29

I second the strips they are effective

You shouldn’t do this anyway. It can cause nasty infections.

Also try anti bac throughout the day on her actual glasses frames.

FieryA · 19/06/2026 07:23

Blackhead remover strips- that's what I've always used.

cerave is good and generally non clogging for a moisturiser.

The medicube zero pore mask is good for blackheads

Thanks everyone. Do the strips actually work? I’ve also read somewhere that you shouldn’t use them on child’s skin.

I have been thinking about this too with DD the same age. I have resisted talking about squeezing them (much as id love to have a go) as she is ‘a picker’ in general and I think lacks the impulse control at the moment not to just pick away and leave marks. One day she’ll need to work out a strategy though I guess. I like those little blackhead sticks with the little circle you press down, I thought about showing her mine but it has a pointy bit at the other end so I’ll get a new one!

JulietteHasAGun · 20/06/2026 07:51

I think the strips ultimately do work to some extent but I always think it’s better to try and sort out skin care to try and prevent them coming rather than relying on just extracting the blackheads. Which long term is not going to be good for the skin.
