Hello lovely people.
I have a few playlists for the gym and theyre getting a little bit dull. I've been listening to Its 5 O'clock somewhere by Gill Simms and Jo Middleton, amd apart from a few strange looks when ive laughed out loud (maybe even snorted ) i really enjoyed it.
Can anyone suggest any other good podcasts?
Funny would be great, but im open to any except sport and food ( ex chef so I ended up muttering things at them!)

I tend to listen to the Jenny Eclair one - Older and Wider, What Did You Do Yesterday and Katherine Ryan but getting bored of her

i also like Strangers on a Bench. Not a comedy podcast as such but find it very absorbing.

I do like a good snort in the gym!

Thebinisrightthere · 18/06/2026 21:30

I like Simon Mayo's Confessions

Holymotherforkingshirtballs · 18/06/2026 21:32

I was going to suggest Off Menu but you said no food! It's more comedy though! Celebrity guests choosing their favourite meal.

I love No Such Thing As A Fish. Along the same lines as QI

RoniaCheetah · 18/06/2026 21:54

It's fairly trashy but I do enjoy My Therapist Ghosted Me (Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally), but I'm also a Dublin girl so the humour appeals to me.

Also like The Rest is Entertainment.

Swimbea · 18/06/2026 21:58

Totally depends what sort of thing you like listening to. I love a good true crime investigative podcast (thoroughly recommend In the Dark, Your Own Backyard, Bone Valley and Bear Brook) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED We're Alive - a apocalyptic podcast, never occurred to me I would like it but I was absolutely engrossed!

Hippychickster · 18/06/2026 22:01

I really laughed at French and Saunders Titting About, but it's on Audible so you have to pay for it.

AlliuminBloom · 18/06/2026 22:05

A bit different to what’s been suggested so far, but I love ‘the rest is history’, I’ve learned so much about historic people and events I never knew I was even interested in. It’s not as dull as it sounds

I'd give it a go, im not against them per se, I just dont wamt chefs discussing cooking etc. I once saw Ed Gamble live and he was really funny.

I listen to Have a Word. It’s very very blokey at times but it makes me laugh out loud every single time. Must look like a loon at the gym and walking the dog.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 18/06/2026 22:17

I'll suggest a classic

"My Dad wrote a porno"

Mainly because I challenge you not to laugh like an absolute loon in front of everyone at the gym.

BG2015 · 18/06/2026 22:18

I like
Parenting Hell
Romesh Ranganathan ( the ones with his mum are hilarious)
Begin Again (Davina)
Rosebud (some really interesting interviews by Gyles Brandreth)
Dig It (Jo Wiley & Zoe Ball)
Josh Widdicombes Archive of Pop Culture
Boj & Kate (Kate Lawlor)

I listen to a lot of podcasts as my menopausal body keeps me awake for 2-3 hours a night!

Agreed. Belinda blinks 🤣

EmmaStone · 18/06/2026 23:20

Another recommendation for The Rest is Entertainment (and I like The Rest is Politics too, but might be a bit much for the gym). I’ve just started listening to What Went Wrong, talking about a film each episode, which I enjoy. My family has enjoyed Stuff You Should Know over the years. And the original - the first series of Serial is a classic.

I was also going to suggest this. I also like You're Dead to Me (BBC Sounds), which is a comedy history podcast. They often have two versions of episodes, one is the cleaned up radio edit, the other version is often ruder, and funnier.

I like If Books Could Kill and Maintenance Phase too

MagnusSkipton · 19/06/2026 06:19

I listen to The Rest is History, The Book Club, Triggernometry and Dan Snow’s HistoryHit at the gym. Great stuff - entertaining and informative.

MinnieMountain · 19/06/2026 06:26

History is Sexy.
Lucy Worsley- Lady Killers.
Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics. It's really funny.

user1471556472 · 19/06/2026 06:49

Adam Buxton
Desert Island Discs
Louis Theroux

The teen commandments (Sara cox & best friend)
